11:02 – Kodebreaker
Plenty have claims in this open race. Brave Display went close from a tough draw at Wolverhampton on Boxing Day and he’s respected along with the other veteran Fieldsman, who recorded his 13th win when making all over C&D last time. Fircombe Hall looks interesting on his step back up in trip, while Daafy and Swiss Rowe also enter the reckoning. However, the vote goes to KODEBREAKER, who won this race off 2lb higher last year and didn’t get much luck when third at Wolverhampton last week.
11:32 – Jackson Street
Regimental Code makes some appeal on the drop to 7f despite the widest draw but JACKSON STREET has taken a healthy step forward with each run and has nothing to prove regarding the conditions. Cassanos Lad did well on his first completed run at Newcastle, considering the yard’s runners tend to come on plenty with racing, and he looks ripe for improvement. Solomon and Queen Of Zafeen are of particular interest among the newcomers.
12:02 – Sovereign Knight
With the experience under his belt and improvement on the cards, SOVEREIGN KNIGHT could well reverse Lingfield placings with Big Zou who holds solid claims and warrants respect all the same. Irish raider Gesture (third choice) is another major player on form, while Albert Lasker also has possibilities. Perfectly Timed looks best of the newcomers.
12:37 – Character Testing
This may well be the day that CHARACTER TESTING cures his seconditis and goes one better. He’s top on the figures, having shown improvement for the step up to 1m last time when pulling clear of the remainder. Clear Storm, who looks likely to take another step forward, is second choice ahead of closely matched rivals Belcamo and Iffraaj Queen. The three newcomers are bred to take well to AW and any positive market signals should be heeded.
13:12 – Heathen
Being 2lb ahead of the assessor and open to further improvement for his new trainer, HEATHEN holds particularly strong claims. Nolton Cross, who has several selling points, is feared most ahead of Haku who ties in with that rival on last-time-out running. Follow the market signals with regard to Valsad and Ensured.

13:47 – Freds Mate
The only runner with winning form is FREDS MATE, who looks open to further progress back on Tapeta and may be the answer. That said, Rich Harry holds solid claims in his rematch with the selection, while the other runners also have possibilities upped in distance.
14:22 – Man On A Mission
There shouldn’t be much between old rivals Stallone and Doctor Mozart (second choice) once more, while Glorious Rio and Dapper Man are worthy of interest with headgear returning, but the verdict goes to MAN ON A MISSION (nap) who was in fine form this time last year and figures on a handy mark again.
14:57 – Katar
He’s a longstanding maiden but KATAR has been in good form at Wolverhampton and he ran well on his last visit here. Teresa Grace won’t be far away with a repeat of her third at this track just before Christmas. The veteran Brandy Station is another to consider.
15:32 – Turner Girl
An open finale. It would be hard to describe TURNER GIRL as well handicapped but she’s a punters’ pal for consistency and it was another good run last time over a trip shy of her best. Mick Appleby has two fair shouts with De Vega’s Warrior and Le Rouge Chinois.
