15:37 – Cold Henry

In what looks quite an open race COLD HENRY, a decent third last time, is taken to get back to winning ways. Spirit Of Ash and Show No Fear are two others who should run well.

16:10 – Maraakiz

C&D winners Reclaim Victory and Odd Socks Havana make the shortlist with both likely to have come on from their recent comeback runs, while Irish challenger Big Dream is respected if producing his best form down in grade. However, the vote goes to MARAAKIZ who ran his best race since returning from a mammoth absence when a close fourth at Southwell last month and races off the same mark.

16:40 – Eleven Eleven

The well-drawn ELEVEN ELEVEN has a good record here and is preferred to Pallas Lord and Top Gun Tina.

17:10 – August (NAP)

There may not be much pace on here which could be a problem for the likes of established hold-up performers Young Fire, Star Shield and Rocket Rod. The veteran Trais Fluors is respected on his third start for his new yard, as is Covert Legend who caught the eye when fourth on stable debut at Wolverhampton last month. However, the vote goes to AUGUST (nap) who has finished runner-up in both starts since joining Mick Appleby and may still have more to offer now back in a handicap.

17:40 – Bystander

After a disappointing debut BYSTANDER looked a decent prospect when winning over C&D last week and, providing this doesn’t come too soon, he should follow up with a penalty. Hopeful, returning after a long break, could prove his main danger.

    18:10 – Mereside Madness

Lady Of Havana seems likely to go close again having finished first and second in two starts at Southwell since switched to handicapping, though it wouldn’t be a surprise to see a big run from Wren Officer with the stiffer track likely to suit. The vote, though, goes to MERESIDE MADNESS who showed some ability on turf last summer and this half-brother to an AW winner may be capable of further improvement on handicap debut having been gelded since last seen.

    18:40 – Atrafan

This is a rare instance of where the veterans appeal most. First choice is 10yo ATRAFAN, who has an impressive record at classified level. Royal Prospect, who was unfortunate not to go close here on his last Flat run, is second choice ahead of fellow 9yos Rum Runner and Retirement Beckons.

    19:10 – Willow Baby

Returned to 6f on her second handicap attempt, WILLOW BABY may well show progress and get off the mark. She has a promising record at this trip and the form has some substance. Sydney Bay, who may have more to offer back over this C&D, is second choice ahead of Enderman who is very consistent at Newcastle.

    19:40 – Flash The Dash

Ignac Lamar perked up with a promising third over C&D last month and is a big player if he can build on that. Carlton And Co has claims if this sets up for her closing style, while The Gay Blade also enters the reckoning along with Jems Bond, who won a division of this race last year. However, the vote goes to FLASH THE DASH, who returned after wind surgery with two eyecatching efforts on Tapeta in November and remains very well treated on his old form.
