Rory has a trio of runners to keep an eye on as he looks to kick off the New Year with a winner.

13:30 Cheltenham – Stumptown

I’m interested to see how STUMPTOWN runs for Gavin Cromwell, who was the leading trainer at Cheltenham at one point this season. Inch House is also an interesting runner for Jonjo O’Neill and it’ll be good to see those two go head to head.

14:05 Cheltenham – Frero Banbou

Stage Star looks set to run in the Paddy Power New Year’s Day Handicap Chase. He’s carrying 12 stone and the ground will dictate whether he runs.

If he doesn’t, FRERO BANBOU would definitely benefit for Venetia Williams. He impressed when finishing third behind Fugitif at Cheltenham in December and he can improve on that run.

    14:15 Tramore – Monkfish

MONKFISH is set to return for the first time since April and he’s entered in the Savills New Year’s Day Chase at Tramore.

It didn’t go to plan for him last season but Willie Mullins has had runners bounce back before. There’s still some life in him and hopefully he can get back to his best.
