Is two wins from two starts at this venue and looks a strong contender for the three timer. He’s always threatened to win a good few more races than he has done so far and maybe it’s this venue where he can thrive and climb the ratings for a little bit longer.
Southwell 16:30 David’s Diva
Looks a typical low-mileage improver for connections and they were clearly hoping for a victory in her first handicap last time. She ran a race full of promise, yet surprisingly, has been dropped a little bit in the handicap this time. It appears that riding her a little more patiently has been the key to her hitting the line better at the end of her races.
Southwell 17:30 – Likeashadow
The two-year-old never got a clear cut at the leaders last time when behind a couple that re-oppose now. He has every chance of another return to the winner’s enclosure and connections believe he rates a good bit better than where he sits off an unchanged and very lenient looking rating of 62. This could be a late Christmas present.
Southwell 18:00 – Educator
Always threatened to be very good early on in his career and held entries in a whole host of top races. Maybe it’s his untapped potential on a synthetic surface that convinced his new connections to shell out stg £52,000 for him. He could be Michael Appleby’s next All Weather star this winter.
Southwell 18:30 – Hiya Maite
The topweight ran an absolute cracker last time at this venue and looked unlucky not to hold on. He was sent for home a good way out and just reeled in late by a classy, well-handicapped runner Bergerac from the Kevin Ryan yard. They flashed past the post together and stopped the clock just outside the 57 second mark, which is serious trapping at this venue. He has been nudged up a couple of lbs by the handicapper but should still go close.
