Each and every day of the racing year we bring you a bumper NAPS Table to give you the inside scoop on all the plays you’ll need that day.

Don’t know what a NAPs Table is? We’ll tell you! It’s an independently run competition involving the cream of the British and Irish racing press whose positions in the table are based on their profits to Level Stakes. And just like all sports competitions worldwide, those doing best are towards the top of the table.

So, we decided to put that golden guide to the test and use it to steer you towards what could be a savvy Lucky 15 (4 horses, 15 bets) today. The four you’ll see below are the selections of some of the top-performing tipsters in the Table. Let’s get to the picks…

12:30 Newcastle – Neigh Botha (The Guardian)

Jumping issues have held him back in recent chases but today’s return to hurdling may enable NEIGH BOTHA to exploit a career-low mark. Glory Bridge is a big danger if judged on his Doncaster second in February, while Uncle Arthur may be able to build upon his recent success in plating company and is next on the list.

14:05 Haydock – Bois Guillbert (Daily Mail)

There ought to be further improvement to come from BOIS GUILLBERT, who is 3-5 over hurdles and faded out of contention in only the closing stages of a good 4yo hurdle at Cheltenham in October. The other 4yo Jagwar makes his handicap debut after going close on his British debut in October and is feared most. Risk D’Argent remains well treated after his clear second in a big field at Warwick last month and is next on the list.

14:25 Ascot – Paisley Park (Racing Post)

A fascinating clash of the generations with some up-and-comers taking on the established old guard of Britain’s staying division. While Crambo and West Balboa are intriguing, their odds do underestimate the degree of improvement demanded at this loftier level. PAISLEY PARK is taken to equal Baracouda’s record of four Long Walks back on a track that plays more to his strengths than Kempton, where he won last year’s rescheduled edition. The 11yo still looked full of beans when narrowly failing to concede 6lb to the respected Dashel Drasher in Newbury’s Long Distance Hurdle, a race that traditionally has a strong bearing on this.

15:15 Haydock – Niceandeasy (The Sun)

Our Sam is the youngster of the party and has found some improvement recently, winning his last three starts. However, while soft ground proved no obstacle on the last two occasions, it’s a nagging worry that he met with a heavy defeat in March on the only time he’s run on heavy going. He’d be very much the first choice apart from that. If the ground is a problem to him this time, the ones most likely to profit are fellow last-time-out winners NICEANDEASY and Ballymagroarty Boy, with the former preferred because of the latter’s poor overall strike-rate.
