17:00 – Arcadian Nights
Queen Of Ipanema has to make the shortlist under Simon Walker, with the return to a longer trip likely to suit on this second start after an absence, while Alazwar is another to consider being 2-2 around here. The consistent Outrace should go well again, but the vote goes to ARCADIAN NIGHTS who hasn’t enjoyed the smoothest of passages on his last two visits here and is just 1lb higher than when successful over C&D in April. A market move for either Escarpment or Simiyann on their respective AW/stable debuts should be noted.
17:30 – Arabian Tribe
Not a deep contest with the best form belonging to Bur Dubai and Sunny Street. They should make their presence felt, but are up against a couple of nicely bred newcomers who wouldn’t need to be anything special to make a winning debut. Ghostlore makes plenty if appeal on pedigree, but preference is for ARABIAN TRIBE who numbers the four-time Group 1 winner Barney Roy amongst his siblings.
18:00 – Lil Wade
There shouldn’t be much between Revolucion and My Boy Jack on last week’s C&D run and both enter calculations, while White Mist (second choice), Lynwood Lady and Peachey Carnehan also come into the reckoning. Beauzon is likely to come good soon and it will be interesting to see if the money comes for him from the widest stall. Perhaps the unexposed LIL WADE will be the answer, with both his recent 5f runs here suggesting he was ready for the step back up in trip. He’s low mileage and could still have more in the tank.
18:30 – Show Compassion
Much will depend on how hard they go early with both Billian and Higher Law, two of the more interesting contenders, happiest coming late off a good pace. If there isn’t much speed on don’t rule out a big run from Liberty Bay but the pair to focus on could be Kitbag and SHOW COMPASSION. The latter had an excuse here last time and her best efforts around here this year bring her right into the reckoning.

19:00 – Maharajas Express (NAP)
Most of the field can have a case argued but the two most interesting contenders, and by some way, are Not Too Real Bad and MAHARAJAS EXPRESS (nap). The former starts out for Mick Appleby off a lowly mark given what she was achieving in Ireland this summer but the absence of her usual tongue-tie tilts the balance in favour of the top weight. The selection looked a sprinter to keep on the right side of when finishing second at Lingfield on his stable debut two weeks ago and the drop to 5f could spark improvement.
19:30 – Eagle Day
He’s A Gentleman (second choice) should go well again but EAGLE DAY’s C&D win last week was another step up the ladder and he can defy a penalty. Master Of Combat can be given another chance after things didn’t go his way here last time and Light Up Our Stars comes into it on his best form but most of the runners have questions of one sort or another to answer.
20:00 – Luna Dipinta
Despite her pulling hard there was enough to like about the debut effort of LUNA DIPINTA at Lingfield last month and any improvement on that would give her solid claims in this field, especially if settling better. Youm Jameel ran well enough over C&D last time to make the shortlist, while there looks to be a better effort in Glimmer Of Light. However, the biggest danger may come from the newcomer Crown Board who makes plenty of appeal on breeding.
20:30 – The Caltonian
The return to this trip looks worth exploring with Ultramarine, while To The Bar could make an impact if building on his latest Lingfield effort and Dakota Power would have to be feared if building on his latest effort over C&D. However, THE CALTONIAN has been transformed by the switch to Tapeta with blinkers added and he should relish the return to this trip, having run so well over 5f at Newcastle last time.
