13:20 Intoxicata

INTOXICATA arrives in good form, having won back-to-back handicaps over course and distance and at Lingfield last month, and running just as well in defeat both starts since despite failing to land short odds. She had to go round horses to make her move at Chelmsford last time, which didn’t help her, and she remains a horse to be interested in from this sort of mark. Sir Titan is getting on a bit now, but he’s been knocking on the door of late, and can give another good account.

13:50 Frightening

FRIGHTENING was an expensive yearling – 260,000 guineas – and she produced a promising debut effort when finishing third to her better-fancied stablemate at Nottingham in October. Indeed, she didn’t progress as expected on her latest start at Kempton, going backwards in fact, weakening out of it in the final furlong. It is probably worth forgiving her that effort this early in her career and she is well worth another chance to build on her debut promise. First Encore was much improved when a close third in a nursery last time and is second choice ahead of Karl Burke’s Jackson Street.

14:20 Darlo Pride

A few in with a squeak but DARLO PRIDE is thriving on his racing at present, relishing the return to all-weather and producing another career-best effort in his latest victory at Chelmsford on Wednesday. This is a quick enough turnaround, but he looks well in turned out under a penalty, and he is taken to make it four wins from his last five starts. Gustav Graves hasn’t managed to get his head in front this year, but he went mightily close over course and distance last time, so is put forward as the main threat.

14:50 The Craftymaster

The drop back in trip is a bit of a worry for THE CRAFTYMASTER, but he has a much less-exposed profile than the rest of these, he made a most encouraging start for this yard over two miles at this course in October. He should be pacey enough and can prove himself on a fair mark now. Recent course winner Blue Hawaii rates an obvious danger under a penalty, while Typical Man has had excuses lately and is lurking on a dangerous mark.

15:20 Get Set Jet

GET SET JET didn’t really threaten to win a race when trained by Ross O’Sullivan in Ireland, but he made a very encouraging start for this yard over the extended mile at this course on Tuesday, and is a horse to be interested in on the back of that effort. He was well backed near the off and left the impression he is on a very good mark, outpaced approaching the home turn but finishing he race to good effect despite being carried to his right. Get Set Jet is sure to relish this step up in trip and can prove himself well handicapped. Mr Trick is feared most on the back of Tuesday’s Lingfield near miss.

15:50 Eagle Day

EAGLE DAY was an expensive purchase as a yearling for previous connections, and he ran his best race to date when opening his account over this course and distance 18 days ago. He went about his business in good style on that occasion, having plenty in hand at the line, and he looks the type who has even more to offer on the all-weather, so he is fancied to defy a 5 lb rise in the weights. Fellow three-year-old Finn Russell may give him most to do ahead of the reliable Prince Ali.

16:20 Wee Fat Mac

Not a deep contest even for the lowly level, with WEE FAT MAC fancied to build on an eye-catching return to all-weather when a fast-finishing fourth here last month. He is just 1 lb higher than his last winning mark and he will remain competitive. Ben Dikduk and Aclaim To Fame are also leading players despite high draws, whilst long-standing maiden Katar has been largely running well in defeat of late and is another that shouldn’t be dismissed.

16:50 Water Of Leith

WATER OF LEITH didn’t enjoy the rub of the green when fourth at Newcastle last time and now figures on a lenient mark. He is threatening to come good soon and this past course and distance winner is worth persevering with. Shabaaby is feared most on the back of his own recent course and distance success, although a solid case can also be made for Astrophysics, My Boy Jack and Churchill Bay in a very open contest.
