Jonbon betting specials: How much will he win the Tingle Creek Chase by in Paddy’s distance specials?

Jonbon is back baby after his Shloer Chase success at Cheltenham in November and heads the market for the Tingle Creek Chase (3pm) at Sandown on Saturday.

Having won 11 of his 13 starts and taking second on the other two (to Constitution Hill and El Fabiolo at the Cheltenham Festival), it’s no surprise he’s a little short in the market for most people’s liking.

So Paddy being the sound man that he is has stacked up a load of Jonbon Specials in the winning distance and forecast markets to put your racing smarts to the test.

We’ve priced up the forecast on ALL the other runners to chase Jonbon home with Edwardstone leading the charge.

    But don’t just take Paddy’s word for it, here’s what our PP News Columnists, Podcasters and all-round racing gurus have to say.

        One of the great two mile races of the season in the Grade 1 Tingle Creek over nearly 2m. Barring an accident JONBON, the Henry VIII hero last year beating Boothill who goes here, looks a class apart from this lot after his recent Cheltenham romp.

        It’s very hard to see past JONBON. Edwardstone is the obvious danger having run well behind him last time and winning this contest last season. Haddex Des Obeaux will win a big race and it’s a shame there is not more top level two mile handicaps for him.

        JONBON should win this as there’s not much opposition. He was impressive in the Shloer Chase at Cheltenham but the 2m Chase division is weak enough in the UK and he won’t face a real contender until he gets to the Cheltenham Festival and faces off against the Irish challengers.

        I don’t think trainer Nicky Henderson will be worried about how far he wins by here either. There were about nine and a half lengths between Jonbon and Edwardstone at Cheltenham. I’d have Jonbon to beat Edwardstone by more than that margin now.

        I’m with HADDEX DES OBEAUX and I’ve also backed him for the Champion Chase at a huge price. He’s got loads to find on ratings after his fall at Cheltenham on his seasonal reappearance. I’m happy to forgive that after being really impressive last season.

        He has a lot to find to beat Jonbon but I’ll take a chance on him in an each-way punt. Hopefully he can finish second but I’m with him long term up until Cheltenham in March.

        A Grade 1 winning hurdler, JONBON quickly cemented his status as a top-class chaser last term, runner-up in the Arkle prior to registering back-to-back Grade 1 victories at Aintree over C&D. Teed up perfectly for this when running out an authoritative winner of the Shloer Chase three weeks ago (with Edwardstone second), he’s hard to oppose.

        The latter-named may be the one to chase him home again, with the likeable and hat-trick seeking Boothill next best.
