12:20 Captain Marvellous
CAPTAIN MARVELLOUS started a big price, but he made a highly-promising start when finishing runner-up on debut over course and distance last month, making smooth headway out wide three from home and looming up approaching the second-last.
He was no match for the winner on the run-in, but that form is working out well – the third and fourth both won next time – and with improvement expected, he can open his account at the second attempt. Stratford runner-up Billytherealbigred is the one likely to follow him home unless the betting vibes are strong surrounding Harry Derham newcomer Push To Pass.
12:50 Floating Line
The market should reveal plenty here in a race where those with experience don’t set the bar too high. FLOATING LINE makes her hurdling debut for Nicky Henderson having gone with some promise when a debut bumper runner-up for Olly Murphy and edges the vote.
Secret Squirrel was two from two in bumpers last spring so is feared most now starting out in this sphere, although fellow newcomers Jolyjump and Highway One O Five also warrant plenty of respect along with Dancing In Brazil, who unseated his rider at Wincanton on his hurdling bow.
13:25 First Street
A trappy novice chase where preference is for FIRST STREET, who is a smart hurdler that kept good company last season. He shaped well on his recent return in a listed event at this course last month, a little fresh in the early stages and that run should have blown away the cobwebs.
He is a good-topped gelding, so has the scope for fences, and is fancied to make a winning start in this sphere for Nicky Henderson. Harbour Lake appeals as the sort to do well in this sphere, though Bourbali can’t be discounted, either.
14:00 Destroytheevidence
DESTROYTHEEVIDENCE has made a positive start over hurdles, winning two of his four starts in this sphere, and he was impressive on his latest start when scoring by 15 lengths in a novice hurdle over 21 furlongs at this course last month.
He wore first-time cheekpieces on that occasion, which appeared to sharpen him up, and he has the potential to improve again now handicapping. He is preferred to Baddesley, who won on his return from a break at Plumpton three weeks ago.
14:35 Coqeulicot
Anthony Honeyball has his team in good form so a chance is taken on COQEULICOT, who won back-to-back handicaps over hurdles last season, and she shaped well on a recent out on the Flat at Newmarket.
She stays well and is fancied to get the better of Kateira, who is a clear form pick based on her second in a two and a half mile Grade 1 novice at Aintree last season, but was below that level on her reappearance and also has stamina to prove now stepping up significantly in trip.

15:05 Thelasthighking
THELASTHIGHKING built on earlier promise over fences when opening his account in a handicap at Wincanton and he backed up that effort when following up in a weak race at Southwell on his next start.
He improved further under a much more patient ride when finishing runner-up over 18 furlongs at this course on his return last month, making a big move out wide on the home turn and looking in control when making a mistake at the last.
He was just collared on the line, but he remains well treated from 4lb higher and he is expected to resume winning ways now. Dan Skelton’s pair Our Jet and Amoola Gold rate the main threats.
15:35 Toothless
TOOTHLESS was bang there until his stamina appeared to give out over 21 furlongs at Ludlow earlier this month and gets the nod back at two miles having been eased another 2lb since.
Small Bad Bob has made a positive start to his time with Chris Gordon and remains well treated on old form so he’s second choice ahead of Oslo, who can make mistakes but is more than capable off his mark.
