11:40 Mighty Bandit

Those with experience don’t set the bar too high so MIGHTY BANDIT, who represents leading connections, is taken to make a winning start. Gordon Elliott has started the season in flying form and he will be of even more interest if strong in the market. Lark In The Mornin showed plenty on his two starts on the Flat so is another to consider, while San Guido has the best form over hurdles.

12:13 Predators Gold

A big-field maiden hurdle which can go the way of the Willie Mullins-trained PREDATORS GOLD, who cost €100,000 as a three-year-old and looked a very good prospect when making a winning debut in a bumper at this course in April.

That race has a habit of producing some nice types and he looks very interesting now making his hurdling debut over a longer trip. Mossy Fen Park is a fascinating Rules debutant having changed hands for big money after winning his second start in Irish points in easy fashion and is another to look out for.

12:48 Gaelic Warrior

This looks a good race which is bound to throw up some future winners but preference is for GAELIC WARRIOR on his chasing debut. He developed into a very smart hurdler last season, winning four of his five starts, and he has always appealed as a horse who will be seen in an even better light once sent over fences.

This trip shouldn’t be a problem for him and, with a clear round of jumping, he will be hard to beat based on his hurdles form. Inothewayurthinkin and Cool Survivor, both of whom boast chase experience and have shown plenty, rate the chief dangers.

13:23 Flooring Porter

FLOORING PORTER isn’t the most obvious chaser on looks and he is coming into this sphere relatively late, but he took well to this discipline when making a winning start in a steadily-run race at Cheltenham last month. Admittedly, it wasn’t the deepest contest, but that form has been boosted since, and he did win with plenty in hand.

There is room for improvement in his jumping, but he is in good hands and is fully entitled to be much sharper now. Affordable Fury promises to make a better chase than hurdler so must be feared after beating Favori de Champdou with a bit in hand on his chase bow at Galway.

13:58 Ha D’Or

You can make a case for several of these, but HA D’OR just about edges the vote. He made a winning start over fences on his return to action last season, creating a very good impression in the process, but he didn’t quite progress as expected afterwards. He was very strong in the betting for handicap chase debut on his final start and was still close up when falling at the ninth.

He may be worth chancing to resume his progress on his reappearance from a mark connections clearly feel is workable. Gordon Elliott’s duo Mars Harper and Coqolino both look to have better days ahead of them too and can chase home the selection.

    14:35 State Man

Willie Mullins has dominated this race in recent years, winning 11 of the last 12 renewals, and this looks a straightforward opportunity for STATE MAN to repeat his success in this race last year. His sole defeat over hurdles last season came at the hands of the outstanding Constitution Hill in the Champion Hurdle and he is a standout on form in this field. Stable-companion Echoes In Rain can follow him home.

    15:08 Yeats Star

YEATS STAR continued the theme of race-by-race progress over hurdles when opening his account in a maiden at Downpatrick last month, well suited by a step up to an extended 17 furlongs. He was given a positive ride on that occasion and had the race sewn up between the last two, drawing clear on the Flat to score by 13 lengths. An opening mark of 122 is more than fair and he should have even more to offer. The thriving El Champo and Noel Meade’s Poets Cottage head the dangers.

    15:43 The Enabler

THE ENABLER cost €200,000 after finishing placed on his sole start in points and was strong in the betting for his Rules debut in a bumper at Thurles last month. He ran a race full of encouragement, beaten two and a quarter lengths in second but impressing with how he moved through the race. There should be plenty of improvement in him now and he is well up to winning a race of this nature. Scamall Bawn was impressive when scoring at Cork first time out so has to be respected, too.
