12:15 Beat The Bat
BEAT THE BAT showed promise in bumpers, winning one of his three starts in that sphere, and he made an encouraging start to his hurdling career when runner-up at Chepstow last month, missing out by only three-quarters of a length. He pulled clear with another useful bumper winner on that occasion and, with improvement expected, he stands out as the one to beat.
12:50 The Carpenter
THE CARPENTER is progressing well and made it three from three over hurdles when scoring on his handicap debut at Uttoxeter in May, asserting in the final 100 yards to score by two and a quarter lengths and justify odds-on favouritism. He remains open to improvement and is likely to prove better than this 5lb higher mark if taking well to chasing.
13:25 Inthewaterside
INTHEWATERSIDE created a good impression when winning both starts in bumpers last season but he had to work hard to land the odds on his hurdling debut at Aintree last month. Inthewaterside only scored by a head but he failed to settle in a steadily-run race so is likely to leave that form behind. He should have the pace to cope with this drop back in trip and can raise his game here.
14:00 Fidelio Vallis
FIDELIO VALLIS was a useful chaser with Paul Nicholls and he looked as good as ever after 14 months off when runner-up at Musselbugh last season on his first start for Harry Derham.
Fidelio Vallis again gave a good account from the front when runner-up over the same course and distance on his return a couple of weeks ago, finding only a well-treated rival too strong after failing to jump with fluency in the straight. He is unproven over this longer trip but is on a decent mark and can launch another bold bid.
14:35 Gin Coco
GIN COCO offered encouragement when fifth in the Welsh Champion Hurdle on his reappearance at Ffos Las last month and he is likely to be sharper with that outing under his belt.
He’s only 2lb higher than when runner-up in the Greatwood Hurdle at Cheltenham last season so is clearly on a competitive mark and looks worth siding with. A tongue tie is applied for the first time here.

15:10 Manothepeople
MANOTHEPEOPLE took well to chasing last season, winning on his first couple of starts at Chepstow, and he also went close on his return at Exeter last month, going down by just a neck. He has gone up 4lb in the weights since that Exeter second but is still relatively unexposed over fences and the addition of cheekpieces for the first time could help bring about further improvement.
15:45 Madaket
MADAKET improved on his novice efforts to make a successful handicap debut on his seasonal reappearance at Chepstow last month, beating a couple of subsequent winners despite still looking rough around the edges.
That victory was achieved over an extended two miles and three furlongs but Madaket gives the impression that he should stay further so is taken to raise his game again here and defy a 7lb rise in the weights.
