12:55 – BON RETOUR
A small field but competitive fare where BON RETOUR is taken to come out on top. She seems to be finding her form again having turned in her best effort of the season at Carlisle last month and, with the winner of that race going on to frank the form at Cheltenham last week, she’s the percentage call. Lord of Cheshire has a big absence to overcome, but he’s a low-mileage sort who returns with his yard still very much amongst the winners, so may prove a threat.
13:30 – ACT OF AUTHORITY
ACT OF AUTHORITY was a winner in points and showed clear signs of ability when finishing runner-up in a couple of bumpers last season. He was far from foot perfect on his return and hurdling debut at Bangor last month but created a good impression by making a winning start, but he could only run to a similar level in a Grade 2 at Cheltenham last time. He has strong claims of resuming winning ways under a penalty now having his sights lowered, though. Clararose and Soldierofthestorm bring course and distance form to the table and might be the pair to give the selection most to do.
14:05 – CHERIE D’AM
CHERIE D’AM beat the only other finisher in a point, and she defied short odds on her Rules debut in a bumper at Uttoxeter in April. She was again all the rage in the betting on her return and debut over hurdles at Wetherby earlier this month, and she looked a good prospect scoring by five lengths. She impressed with how well she travelled that day, putting the race to bed in an instant after jumping the last. This is a stronger race she finds herself in now, but she remains with plenty of potential, and is fancied to maintain her unbeaten record. Push The Button, who has actually achieved a bit more in form terms, can pose the biggest threat.

14:40 – LAGONDA
In what looks a strong race for the grade, the vote goes to LAGONDA, who was just touched off by an upwardly mobile type in Lazy Sunday (subsequent form figures read 1122) on her sole previous start in this sphere at Exeter in February. She represents a yard that has made a terrific start to the season and resumes on what looks a fair mark. Kraqueline left her hurdles form well behind when making a winning chase debut at Wincanton and she is next best ahead of Moviddy and Game On For Glory.
15:15 – JIMMY THE DIGGER
JIMMY THE DIGGER held his form well last season after making a winning reappearance in a handicap at Cheltenham (bled when rare below-par effort on final 2022/23 outing). He was in the process of running well on his return at Aintree this season, too, typically jumping well and still close up and travelling well when stumbling and unseating his rider at the eleventh fence. He is able to race from the same mark now and is well up to winning races kept to veterans’ company. Aye Right was only narrowly denied on his reappearance and can give his running once more.
15:50 – CHIQUE ANGEL
CHIQUE ANGEL proved popular at the sales, purchased for €110,000 as a three-year-old, and she represents a top stable on debut. This doesn’t look a deep bumper so she is taken to make a winning start. Rula Bula showed ability in a bumper at Aintree so is respected, while Either Or and Lindy Reilly are other likely newcomers.
