Horse Racing Tips: Ruby Walsh’s fine fancies for Friday’s ITV Racing at Cheltenham

It's the first day of the Cheltenham November meeting and Ruby is sweet on Off To A Flyer at a decent price in the opener.

13:10 – Off To A Flyer (NAP)

Not many of these jump out at me as quite a few of them seem to have been found out by the handicapper. One I did like the look of is Off To A Flyer for Joe Tizzard with Freddie Gingell on board. He won last time out at Ayr over three miles off a mark of 113 and a couple of his runs were decent. Freddie takes off 3lbs too which is always a bonus and he could have improved over the summer.

13:45 – Walk In Clover (each way)

I’m not sure Triple Trade is a two miler as I don’t think he’s sharp enough for this distance. He wants further and while the Skelton’s have Calico at the top of the betting, I’m with their other runner Walk In Clover. He was running a cracking race behind My Mate Mozzie last month before he unseated Harry Skelton. Tristan Durrell is on board and claiming 5lbs so he could be a good each-way shout.

14:20 – Petit Tonnerre

I’m with Mighty Tom or Petit Tonnerre to turn over JPR One – and I’m with the latter. His run in the County Hurdle was decent behind Faivoir. He’s only five years old and he should have improved over the summer. He can show a bit of maturity and he’s the one to be with.

14:55 – Delta Work

The class is at the top of the betting with Gordon Elliott’s Delta Work and Galvin. Galvin is having his first run of the season, however, Delta Work finished third at Punchestown in October and that could prove the difference between them. I can’t oppose Delta Work with Keith Donoghue on board.

15:30 – Captain Teague

I was really impressed with Captain Teague’s win at Chepstow last month and his run behind A Dream To Share at Cheltenham in the Champion Bumper in March looks solid. He’s going to progress and I’m not sure The Big Doyen has good enough form to beat Captain Teague for Paul Nicholls and Harry Cobden.

16:05 – Caithness

Impose Toi has won plenty but I was really impressed with Caithness at Kelso last time out. He won a maiden hurdle there in September and he bolted up in October. He’s lightly raced for a seven-year-old and the Lucinda Russell runner seems a value pick who is well handicapped.
