Emerald Banner should be good enough to win this. She’s been second on her last three starts at Navan, Naas and Dundalk. Stepping back up to 6f should really play to her strengths and she can go one more than her second in September. She’s getting 7lbs from Clonmacash and that could be huge.
Tamazu is a hard horse to catch right and 5f might suit him better. Jered Maddox has been running well in harder races but Volatile Analyst could be the value pick. He’s making his polytrack debut and he’s ran well for Adrian McGuinness without getting the desired results. It’s a drop in grade and there’s a lot of pace for him to attack.
Bergamasco ran at Dundalk on Wednesday night and I’m against him if he runs. Victors Choice ran a decent second at Galway in October but I like the look of Daniel Murphy’s runners Masonbrook Meadow and Mokotow Glory. The former is the pick with Oisin McSweeney claiming 5lbs. He ran well at Dundalk in October and he should be hard to beat.
Deluca Chop won at this track last year but he’s not consistent. Sioux Princess should run a good race but I’m with Humtaza. She caught the eye in a couple of maidens, especially when finishing fourth at Fairyhouse earlier this year. She’s off a mark of 59, which seems more than workable and she’s got a kind draw, as well as blinkers on for the first time.
Wishes And Dreams caught the eye last time out when finishing second at Dundalk. She finished off the race really well and she’s stepping up in trip, which will suit her. She’s in stall 14, which isn’t ideal, but she sets the standard.
Banana Three has a solid level of form and he can give a good account of himself. I was taken by Apercu’s run at Dundalk last month when finishing fourth. She’s likely to show improvement and she can be the value pick.
This is a cracking handicap. I keep coming back to the top weight Longbourn, who won here in August. He finished third at the Curragh in September off a mark of 91 and he’s running off 93 on Friday, with Scott McCullagh taking off 3lbs. He has decent form too.
Hijo De La Luna will probably go off favourite and he’ll be popular in the betting, however, I have my doubts over him. Lady Christa is the one to be with for Sheila Lavery. She finished second at Navan a couple of runs back and she can impress on the polytrack with Declan McDonogh on board.
