14:30 – Eagle’s Realm

EAGLE’S REALM was fit from a spell over hurdles and belatedly opened his account in this sphere over a mile and three quarters at Wolverhampton last month. He was always travelling smoothly and did well to come the back of the field in the manner he did in a race which wasn’t run at a strong pace. A subsequent 3 lb rise is fair and a step up to two miles shouldn’t be a problem. Ghadbbaan and Grifter head the dangers.

15:05 – Lochnaver

LOCHNAVER has been kept busy this year, opening her account for the season in a mile and a half handicap at Hamilton in June, but losing her form a little after. She did catch the eye back on all-weather at Wolverhampton last time, though, making her way fluently onto the heels of the principals but never able to fully open up. She remains unexposed on this surface and is worth a chance to build on that promise. Spirit of Ash has an excellent course record and seems likely to bounce back from a below-par effort, while Super Stars is another to consider.

15:37 – Franberri

FRANBERRI showed plenty of promise on her debut and she probably didn’t need to improve on that form when opening her account at the third attempt over course and distance a fortnight ago. She did shape like a strong stayer, doing all of her best work at the finish and displaying a willing attitude, and she will remain of interest now handicapping from what appears to be a fair-looking mark. La Pulga and Quantum Cat are a couple of others to consider.

16:15 – Shaladar

SHALADAR took really well to the all-weather on his debut on this surface over course and distance last week, no surprise given his strong-travelling run style, and he matched the pick of his efforts despite meeting trouble in running, finishing runner-up to Eldrickjones. He had to wait for a gap over two furlongs out and still had plenty to do, but finished his race to good effect from an unpromising position. He looks on a good mark and should go close if building on that effort. Fantastic Fox also merits strong consideration.

16:45 – Ithra

This doesn’t look the strongest race of its type and ITHRA is taken to open her account. She made a positive start for this yard when hitting the frame in a handicap at Kempton last month, but she wasn’t in the same form with cheekpieces fitted at Wolverhampton last time. She is worth another chance given it is still early days with this yard, though, and she also has the best form on offer. Ballsbridge and Master Dandy look the likeliest dangers.

17:18 – Snash

SNASH capitalised on the drop in grade in good style over course and distance two weeks ago and remains well treated on old form, so he’s the percentage call to follow up in an open-looking event. Charencey took a big step forward when runner-up on his Leicester handicap debut last month and may do better still, while others to consider include Selby’s Pride and Warminster.

Newcastle all weather

17:50 – Razzam

RAZZAM made a winning start for Mick Appleby but has been a bit disappointing the last twice, though it’s still relatively early days with his current yard and, with his previous form reading well, he’s well worth another chance from what is still a workable mark. As If By Chance hasn’t had that much racing on all-weather and could bounce back after a break, while Bellagio Man completes the shortlist.

18:20 – Torchlight

It’s hard to look beyond TORCHLIGHT, who bumped into an above-average prospect at Kempton last week, but she has shown plenty of ability in her own right, and John & Thady Gosden’s filly looks capable of better again. Abbey Gardens and Flindrikin were fourth and seventh respectively in that same contest and may well emerge as the chief threats, with newcomer King’s Vanity another worth keeping a close eye on.

18:50 – Inverlochy

INVERLOCHY is going the right way now and, having opened her account with a fair bit up her sleeve at Chelmsford eight days ago, she’s likely to follow up if equally as effective on tapeta. Hey Lyla is a danger on the back of a good effort and Daydream Express is a likely improver on handicap debut.
