12:30 – Foveros
This isn’t a strong race and it may be worth chancing FOVEROS on his first start since leaving Willie Mullins. He ran too badly to be true in a handicap at Killarney when last seen in August, but the pick of his efforts make him a contender in this field and the booking of Harry Cobden has to be seen as a positive. Saligo Bay shaped as if needing the run on a recent Flat start at Kempton so he could be the one to give the selection most to think about.
13:05 – Burdett Road
The ones with hurdling experience don’t set an exacting standard in this juvenile hurdle, so it looks cherry ripe for a debutant, and the James Owen-trained BURDETT ROAD makes plenty of appeal. He was a useful performer on the Flat for Michael Bell, winning three times at up to a mile and a quarter, notably the Golden Gates Handicap at Royal Ascot. Provided he gets round soundly, he should take all the beating. Through The Ages and Palio can battle it out for the forecast spot.
13:40 – Mofasa
MOFASA won his first two starts over hurdles for Michael Scudamore last season and he shaped encouragingly on his stable and chase debut on his return at Worcester in September. He started a short-price favourite sporting a first-time tongue tie and his jumping was largely fluent (untidy two from home). He didn’t have any answer for the winner in the closing stages but Mofasa is sure to strip fitter for that outing and he looks very interesting now entering handicaps. It will be interesting to see how chase debutants Fair Frontieres and Hitching Jacking go in the market.
14:15 – Take No Chances
Plenty to ponder in an interesting mares’ event and hurdling debutante TAKE NO CHANCES gets the narrow vote. Dan Skelton’s mare displayed a good deal of promise in bumpers last season and this longer trip promises to suit now her attentions switch to timber. Irish-raider Miss Oreo is a threat with a repeat of her latest Fairyhouse display, whilst the returning Iliade Allen is another to note on hurdles bow for her all-conquering stable.

14:50 – Desque De LIsle
There are some interesting chase debutants on show, but DESQUE DE L’ISLE has fallen back down to his last winning mark on his return to action, and may be able to put his experience to good use. He has won fresh in the past and the trainer had saddled one who won impressively on his seasonal return at Chepstow earlier in the week. Orange Diamond is potentially on a good mark on the pick of his French form so is feared most in a race where the market will likely reveal more.
15:25 – Top Cloud
It is hard to rule any of these out but TOP CLOUD has made an excellent start for this yard, winning both of his starts in handicaps at Stratford and Hereford last month. He didn’t need to improve to land the odds last time, but had much more in hand than the official margin implies, just kept up to his work in the closing stages. Top Cloud is 9 lb higher now, but he arrives on an upward curve and is taken to complete a quick-fire hat-trick. For Gina, who produced a career best when winning at Uttoxeter last time, can pose the biggest threat.
16:00 – Jack Sprat
JACK SPRAT failed to build on last season’s promise when only fifth at Stratford on his handicap debut last month, but he is well worth another chance off what appeals as a lenient-looking mark here, given that was his first run for six months and his yard are among the winners. Blazing Court is another weighted to have a big say and next best ahead of in-form maiden Pileup.
