Gordon Elliott appears keen to land the Munster National as he saddles eight of the 13 runners in Sunday’s big race at Limerick.
Run Wild Fred, the winner of the 2021 Troytown Handicap Chase, and hat-trick seeker Mars Harper are eye-catching names in the octet but stable jockey Jack Kennedy has plumped for last year’s Irish Grand National second Frontal Assault.
Henry de Bromhead is represented by Largy Debut and Walk Away, Joseph O’Brien’s A Wave Of The Sea runs off 1lb lower than his last winning mark and last season’s Paddy Power Chase winner Real Steel goes for Eric McNamara. The Little Yank completes the field for Sunday’s 16:15.

Munster National verdict
Timeform: Gordon Elliott is mob-handed, fielding eight runners, but it’s the Joseph O’Brien-trained A WAVE OF THE SEA who earns the vote. He didn’t jump at all well at Listowel last time, but is a big player judged on solid efforts in a Tipperary Grade 3 and the Galway Plate during the summer, plus he’s now 6 lb below the mark off which he finished fourth in this race 12 months ago. The Goffer, Frontal Assault and Gevrey, all members of the Elliott battalion, are feared most in that order of preference
