13:35 – Gherkin
Off a handy mark and with Hollie Doyle on board, GHERKIN could well record a second C&D win. Second choice is Malham Tarn Cove, who has shown signs that he’s up to winning a modest handicap. Heer’s Sadie and the selection’s stablemate Notre Maison are likely players if proving as effective back at 6f, while Giddy Aunt has possibilities if turning out very quickly.
14:10 – Seax
Richard Hannon is doubly represented with Daaoye and Pannonica. A case can be made for either, with Wren Officer also making a pleasing enough start to her racing career. Nevertheless, the clear form pick is the twice-raced SEAX, who ought to be capable of winning a race of this nature based on his opening Ascot effort.
14:45 – Crimson Road
Quite an open novice contest, with most of the runners having possibilities. Castle In The Sand and Zayina are respected on form but they could take each other on for the lead, having both adopted front-running tactics last time out. This may set up nicely for CRIMSON ROAD, who has been crying out for the new trip to boot. Gregorina (second choice) has the benefit of course experience, while Show Biz Kid is also in the mix.
15:20 – Gilbert
Back down in trip on his first run since wind surgery, GILBERT could well record a second course success. Habanero Star, who has solid claims, is second choice ahead of Local Bay and Chagall.

15:55 – Chinthurst (NAP)
Provided he confirms the form of last week’s C&D effort, CHINTHURST (nap) has a good chance of going one better. Silver Bubble (second choice) was behind the selection in that event but had an excuse, while Sun Festival and Send In The Clouds also look shortlist material.
16:30 – Optiva Star
Having come first and second when they clashed over C&D at the start of September, OPTIVA STAR and Poetic Force can come to the fore again. There’s a swing in the weights but the verdict was never in serious doubt once the selection moved to the front last time and he can win his fourth race in a row, all at Brighton. Shoot To Kill, who was third on the AW yesterday, is another recent winner to consider seriously.
17:05 – Done Decision
Low-mileage 3yo DONE DECISION holds good claims turned out quickly and is taken to open his account. Bonkersinabundance, who returns to the scene of her two wins, is second choice ahead of Mumayaz. A few others also have possibilities.
17:40 – Puffable
A chance is taken on PUFFABLE, who has proved inconsistent but is better than her latest effort suggests and may take advantage of a handy mark with Tom Marquand up for the first time. Second choice is Fifty Year Storm, who may improve for the drop back in distance and first-time headgear. Recent winners Batchelor Boy and On Edge are worthy of respect despite their future marks indicating otherwise, while El Tesoro also has possibilities.
