Karatayka has a record of 0-10 but she sets a fair standard on her best form and could make a serious impact back from a break. Monkmoor Pip made a good start with his front-running win over same course and distance (C&D) last week and he’s respected under a penalty but preference is for CIARA PEARL.
She ran green at Bath on her debut in July but still managed to give a 1-6 shot a real fright in that race and is a big player if she can build on that promising effort.
14:10 So Sleepy (NAP)
Last year’s winner Sparked scored at Bath on her latest outing and she looks more convincing than the other last-time-out winner Rewilding. We’re Reunited and Global Effort both have something to recommend them but SO SLEEPY (NAP) ran well to take a close third over C&D last week and can take advantage of the same mark.
The Ralph Beckett-trained BERNESE is open to improvement on her second start and she showed some promise when fifth of seven in a warm Newmarket maiden in July.
Those who have raced set only a moderate standard and the well-bred newcomer Overture may be the chief danger, ahead of Sweet Sister who can build on her debut effort. Milliterries is another to consider.
There are two key form lines to consider and the one containing Tropical Air and BULLDOG DRUMMOND may hold sway. Tropical Air is 3-3 on AW and improving fast but Bulldog Drummond is 12lb better off for a neck defeat at Wolverhampton ten days ago and is taken to come out on top.
Mitwaa and Enpassant are closely matched on their Salisbury clash and perhaps Enpassant is open to greater improvement, having still looked green.
This looks trappy. Inverlochy and Hard Act To Follow should be capable of better, while Silver Screen and Labiqa (second choice) also have something to recommend them. TWILIGHT DANCER has been in good form over 7f this season and her pedigree offers hope that she’ll see out today’s extra furlong.
Stablemates Luxy Lou and Kenstone may prove the pick of the older runners but this may be best left to the 3yos. Golden Phase (second choice) is going the right way but ISLAND NATIVE went close at Wolverhampton last week and can shed his maiden tag at the ninth attempt.

Hard to warm to many of these. Starry Eyes and Lord Clenaghcastle (second choice) have to prove their stamina and that tips the scales in favour of three-time C&D winner STAR OF EPSOM, who should be sharper with last month’s run behind her. On The Nose is harder to recommend but a revival wouldn’t be a total bolt from the blue.
Brigantes Warrior is bred to be better than we have seen so far and an improved showing wouldn’t be the biggest surprise. Jimmy Mark has won twice at Bath this season and can go well on his AW debut but SOMEONES WISH justified good market support on his handicap debut and he can make light of a 6lb penalty with further progress on the cards.
Preference is for the unexposed gelding EMPERORS CLOTHES, who kicked off his handicap career with a strong-finishing win at Chepstow last month and is open to more progress on this step up in trip.
Sir Mark Prescott’s Robusto is feared most, although Fox Flame has battled well to win her last two races and is respected in her hat-trick bid. The shortlist is completed by Mirabello Bay, who is 4-8 on AW and on a dangerous mark back in this sphere.
