13:15 Longchamp – Beauvatier

ITV go to France Sunday for the Arc meeting and coverage gets under way here with the Group 1 Jean-Luc Lagardere for juvenile colts and fillies over 7f. Rosallion is better than we saw at Doncaster, but most will feel BEAUVATIER will take all the beating after the son of Lope de Vega made it four on the bounce in the Prix la Rochette, a Group 3, at Longchamp last time. Travels like a machine for Maxime Guyon.

13:50 Longchamp – Darnation

Next it’s the Group 1 Marcel Bouusac, the fillies equivalent of the Lagardere but over 1m. Very easy to pick DARNATION here after her explosive performance in the May Hill at Doncaster. The Too Darn Hot offspring stays well and goes on any ground so she should be hard to stop. Has looked a machine all season for Karl Burke and Clifford Lee.

14:25 Longchamp – Al Ghadeer

One of the biggest Arabian bred races run in the year with the Group 1 Arabian World Cup over 1m2f. AL GHADEER won at a canter in Goodwood over a mile and this distance is no issue at all. Hard to oppose for Christophe Soumillon and Francois Rohaut as he just keeps on winning. In the words of Dire Straits let’s hope it’s money for nothing!

15:05 – Fantastic Moon (each-way)

The big one, the Group 1 Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe over 1m4f. The Jean-Claude Rouget-trained Ace Impact may well just be in a different league to this lot after five consecutive victories which have made him look something special.

They include a scintillating success in the French Derby – like the sire of his dam Anabaa Blue – where he came from near last to first under Cristian Demuro to deny the talented Big Rock and the re-opposing Feed the Flame and Continuous, and last time at Deauville when denying Al Riffa, who landed the Group 1 National Stakes as a youngster.

The problem for Ace Impact fans is he is unproven at the distance and gets ridden as if he’s Dancing Brave, the great fast-finishing Arc hero of 1986. He will have to be able to give all of these a head start.

The two I’ve been juggling with as an each-way selection are Feed the Flame and Fantastic Moon.

I wouldn’t put you off Feed the Flame, trained by Pascal Bary and a Group 1 winner in the Grand Prix de Paris.

That’s not strong form with Adelaide River in second, albeit a winner at Leopardstown of a Group 3 next time out, but Feed the Flame promises much more to come after just five outings.

The son of Kingman stays really well and was never going to be suited by the small field in the Niel last time when denied by Fantastic Moon. I’ll be very surprised if he doesn’t run a massive race under Christophe Soumillon as Bary looks for his first Arc.

However, if Ace Impact isn’t different class it’s FANTASTIC MOON that is the horse I want on my side.

15:50 Longchamp – Blue Rose Cen

ITV add another race to the coverage this year in the Group 1 Prix de l’Opera for fillies and mares over 1m2f. The question is whether BLUE ROSE CEN is as good now as she was early season. I’m going to take the chance she is, despite a poor effort under a bad ride at Glorious Goodwood. Many believe he had the run of the race in the Niel, but I liked the speed he showed to get the pacemaker and he stayed on really well. German raiders in the Arc are always bigger odds than they should be.

So best of luck and pray for Yeeehaaas. You hear me Paddy?
