Aidan O’Brien’s UNQUESTIONABLE quite clearly wasn’t himself when he banged his head in the starting stalls and also lost a front shoe on his last run at the Curragh. He never gave his running that day but before that had been a rapid improver when running second in Group 2 company after his maiden win. It’s no surprise that Team Ballydoyle roll the dice with him again on this big weekend and the extra yardage should suit him.
OPERA SINGER put up her best performance to date last time in Group 3 company with a thoroughly dominant display. She raced handily and finished well to hit the line very strongly.
It looks like Damnation is her main danger given the drier forecast. It may well not be soft enough ground for her and the quicker conditions can play into the selection’s hands.
FANTASTIC MOON has been supplemented for the Group 1 Prix de l’Arc de Triompheat a cost of €120,000. The team are obviously hoping for quick conditions as that has proven his ideal surface up to this point.
He will have to lower the colours of the unbeaten Ace Impact, the solid home favourite, but unlike him we have no questions to answer regarding stamina over this testing 1m 4f trip and this contest should be run as a true test of endurance with the big field lining up.
BLUE ROSE CEN was very unlucky when she came across to the Goodwood Festival as she got into all sorts of trouble when trying to keep the inside rail.
Added to that, we can forgive her last effort too as it was over the extended 1m 4f and she now drops down to 1m 2f on a track that she has won four out of five times at – albeit over 1m.
We can all see that HIGHFIELD PRINCESS has been handed a difficult starting stall position in box 14 over the minimum trip for this sprinting spectacular, but a look at the opposition will lead you to think this is not a stellar renewal.
Her class should see her dominate or at least be able to sit handy and then power home from the furlong marker.
