While many eyes are on the Ryder Cup this weekend, the only riders we’re interested in are those going for glory at Paris Longchamp on Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe day.
And to help you avoid a Team USA-style chastening, Paddy’s assembled a crack squad of his own – and this lot might actually deliver.
We’re talking Matt Chapman, Jason Weaver, Ruby Walsh and racing trader Sean O’Sullivan who all step up to the plate to showcase their talents on the grandest stage.
While the Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe is the centre-piece of the day’s action, there’s also five other Group 1 contests to solve on what should be a Super Sunday in both the French – and hopefully the Italian – capitals.

Rosallion is better than we saw at Doncaster, but most will feel BEAUVATIER will take all the beating and travels like a machine for Maxime Guyon.
Jason Weaver
UNQUESTIONABLE clearly wasn’t himself when he banged his head in the starting stalls and also lost a front shoe at the Curragh. It’s no surprise that Ballydoyle roll the dice with him and the extra yardage should suit.
Ruby Walsh
I’m with ROSALLION, who was really impressive at Ascot and the soft ground at Doncaster last time out was his undoing. I’m not sold on Unquestionable.
Sean O'Sullivan
ROSALLION was really impressive two starts ago on good ground at Ascot and the second and fourth have won since. Disliked the soft ground last time out but is back to a firmer surface here.
Mick Fitzgerald
ZABIARI looks a big runner for the Aga Khan’s operation in France. Trainer J C Rouget will have left a little to work on with this two-year-old.
Matt Chapman
Very easy to pick DARNATION here after her explosive performance in the May Hill at Doncaster. Stays well and goes on any ground so she should be hard to stop.
Jason Weaver
OPERA SINGER put up her best performance to date last time in Group 3 company with a thoroughly-dominant display. She raced handily and finished well to hit the line very strongly.
Ruby Walsh
Darnation impressed at Doncaster on soft ground last time out but I kept coming back to OPERA SINGER. There’s no shame in being beaten by A Lilac Rolla and that form has held up.
Sean O'Sullivan
I’ve sided with LES PAVOTS (each way). She was an impressive winner at Deauville last time out and the second from that race has since run well in the Moyglare.
Mick Fitzgerald
ROSE BLOOM (each-way) has already won over 1m and the family usually act on soft ground. She can run big race at an each-way price
Matt Chapman
The two I’ve been juggling with as each way selections are FEED THE FLAME and Fantastic Moon. If Ace Impact isn’t different class then FANTASTIC MOON is the horse I want on my side.
Jason Weaver
FANTASTIC MOON has been supplemented for the Group 1 Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe at a cost of €120,000. The team are obviously hoping for quick conditions as that has proven his ideal surface.
Ruby Walsh
I can see why people keep landing on Ace Impact but I’m willing to take him on with SIMCA MILLE at a huge price. I like his form and he had an impressive win in the Grosser Preis von Berlin.
Sean O'Sullivan
ACE IMPACT will be hard to beat. His French Derby win was the most impressive piece of form from any 3-year-old this year and the trainer is a master for prepping horses to peak in this race.
Mick Fitzgerald
The English St Leger winner CONTINUOUS is much better now than when beaten in the French Derby last June. He can make his presence felt.
Matt Chapman
The question is whether BLUE ROSE CEN is as good now as she was early season. I’m going to take the chance she is, despite a poor effort under a bad ride at Glorious Goodwood.
Jason Weaver
BLUE ROSE CEN was unlucky when she came across to the Goodwood Festival as she got into all sorts of trouble trying to keep the inside rail. We can forgive her last effort too as it was over the extended 1m 4f and she now drops down to 1m 2f.
Ruby Walsh
AL HUSN (each way) finished ahead of Above The Curve, Nashwa and Blue Rose Cen at Goodwood in August and I fancy him to go well again. JACKIE OH could also go well and run into a place.
Sean O'Sullivan
ROUGE MILLENNIUM has the right ground to show her best form and she has done it in the past when chasing the likes of Free Wind and Tahiyra home. That form is as good as any here.
Mick Fitzgerald
BLUE ROSE CEN hammered Never Ending Story in that contest and a few of today’s opposition also. She is a worthy favourite.
