It’s Arc weekend and Longchamp is really the place to be. I highly recommend going as you see celebrities from all walks of life who all want to be there.
There’s a good card on Saturday and the UK & Irish trainers will be hoping to grab a piece of the pie.
This son of Zoffany has been in great form rattling out the five timer, winning at the track last time in a group 3. He is proven over the course and distance, ground conditions are not a problem as he has won on very soft and on good, so he should kick the meeting off well far Mikael Barzalona.
Alan King has been very unlucky with Trueshan, as several times he has had to be taken out of races because the ground was unsuitably quick. He loves soft ground and this looks perfect for him.
This daughter of Almanzor is a half-sister to a colt that was placed in the French 2000 Guineas called Dice Roll. The Head family are regulars in the winners enclosure at this meeting and I’m pretty sure this is a smart filly in the making.
Andre Fabre is a master of his craft. Ottery is a daughter of Dubawi and she was very unlucky behind Melo Melo last time. Over a shorter distance and given a clear run she’s the one for me in a really tight race where lots have chances.
Brian Meehan would dearly love to win a big one with Isaac Shelby – he went down all guns blazing in the French Guineas just getting narrowly beaten.
The owners have become big hitters, and it would be pretty important for them to have a winner on what is one of the most prestigious weekends of the season.
Interestingly, Horizon Dore has been ridden by Cristian Demuro to win two of his last three starts. He is in opposition today but Michal Barzalona has ridden this horse plenty and ground is not a problem, so you would like to think there should be another step forward for this son of Dabirsim.
