A competitive and very interesting mares’ hurdle. Condesa (second choice) was far too good for a pretty good yardstick here in July, while Stadium Talk created a good impression when drawing a long way clear at Wexford this month but the most tempting option is SEA ASTER, who brings a very solid piece of handicap form back into novice company. Downpatrick winner Gaye Winnie and dual bumper winner El Elefante add further depth.

Most of these are in good form but the one with most potential is UNCLE BERT, a promising novice last season who makes his handicap debut today. Sanosuke looks fortunate to have escaped with just a 1lb rise for his clear second over C&D in May and is feared most. Andys Flame and City Derby also make significant appeal.
15:30 Attitash (NAP)
This can go to ATTITASH (nap), who was placed in a better chase than this at Downpatrick last month and is very well equipped to cope with the forecast soft ground here. Sputnik won after a break last autumn and was in good form when last seen in the spring, so he could be a tough nut to crack. Thunder In Milan can also feature if tuned up after his break.

16:05 Park Annonciade
The Irish hold a strong hand here and handicap debutant PARK ANNONCIADE is taken to supplement last month’s C&D novice win. Nottodaybobo is not obviously well treated if judged on the bare form is his Kilbeggan maiden win but he was probably in the process of running to a bigger figure before coming to grief in a recent chase there.
16:40 Bodhisattva
Born Famous has been on the rampage for Iain Jardine this season but is now effectively 15lb higher than when winning the Summer Plate under an audaciously patient Harry Cobden on her latest chase start. She might be up to the task but preference is for BODHISATTVA, who comes here after a good effort at Cartmel last month. Wasdell Dundalk bids to complete a C&D hat-trick and is respected in his current mood.
17:12 Brownstone
Recent C&D winner Prince Nino has done well for Lizzie Quinlan this season but will need to take another step forward to overcome his latest rise and an interesting alternative is Irish-trained maiden BROWNSTONE, who ran a fair bit better than his eventual 23l defeat might suggest on his recent stable debut and may benefit from today’s drop back in trip. Awesome Foursome is next on the list.
