The draw could have been better but CHIFA has such a great strike-rate over C&D since last October that it looks worth taking the chance that he will find a way round it. Touchwood is likely to go well again but Flatley may prove the main danger to the selection.
Diddy Man finished well clear of the rest on his AW debut last Monday and can only look fairly treated off the same mark, but blinkers have made the difference with IRRELEVANT, who’ll be happier back down in trip and is preferred. Insignia has a bit of potential now handicapping.
Sent off favourite for his Thirsk debut last month, when one of three to come away, PEN PORTRAIT can make the most of the 7lb he’s receiving from the wide-drawn previous winner Nezeeh. Biographer, who shaped well enough on his 7f Kempton debut, is another with claims.
Cases could be made for the majority in a sprint handicap in which none of the 11 are open to improvement. Four-time C&D winner Toplight has possibilities off a career-low mark but the vote goes to SUANNI, who’s drawn to attack, boasts a good record at this time of year and is 11lb lower than when winning over C&D last November.
A trappy event. Liosa still has some potential if he learns to settle, while Coast is well drawn to attack, Exorbitant isn’t fully exposed and Under Curfew (second choice) is banging at the door. SHOW COMPASSION has been in good order on AW this year, though, and she could prove the answer.
Send In The Clouds is well-in following last Monday’s easy apprentice-race win but this will be less of a stamina test back on the AW and he’s wound up in the stronger division. Clandestinely and Lady Chapel are lightly raced and have a bit of potential now upped in trip, while Global Tycoon has been running consistently since blinkers went on, but CHINESE WHISPERER (nap) was rated a deal higher a couple of years ago and gets the nod having shown much more on his third start back from a long absence last time.
The lightly raced pair All Inclusive and Someone’s Wish are the only ones open to improvement in an uninspiring handicap and are worth tracking in the market. Otherwise, there are positives with OPTICALITY, who ran well off higher marks here a couple of times this time last year and who hasn’t had much luck in two runs back from wind surgery.
Although well beaten in a better race at Newmarket on Saturday, VOLTAIC has a good record here and is taken to beat the unexposed filly Style Of Life. Recent winners Bo Taifan and Kodi Noir are also expected to go well.
