13:40 Beautiful Love

BEAUTIFUL LOVE has offered plenty to work on when hitting the frame in both starts to date, latterly when chasing home a useful prospect at Sandown three weeks ago. That form is the best on offer in this line-up and the step up to a mile today is likely to eke out more improvement.

A couple of interesting newcomers feature among the opposition in this novice event, but Beautiful Love is fancied to put her experience to good use to get off the mark at the third attempt.

14:15 Shining Jewel

SHINING JEWEL left her previous form behind after four months off (had a breathing operation in the interim) to open her account at Chelmsford last time, forging clear in the final furlong to win by four lengths. She now makes the switch to handicaps and seems sure to give another good account in her follow-up bid.

There should be more to come from her after only three starts and a British Horseracing Authority (BHA) mark of 91 already looks a fair starting point to life in this sphere.

 

14:50 Red Maids

RED MAIDS has looked a filly on the up in winning her last two starts, first getting off the mark at Yarmouth last month and then defying a penalty to follow up at Haydock a couple of weeks later. She was well on top at the finish on the last occasion, quickly asserting in the final furlong to land the spoils by two and a half lengths.

The impressive manner of that victory suggests she hasn’t reached her ceiling yet and the hat-trick beckons despite another hike in the weights.

15:25 Rock Of England

ROCK OF ENGLAND produced a career-best effort to get his head back in front at Carlisle a few weeks ago, hitting the front entering the final furlong and always doing enough from there to win by a length and a quarter with a bit in hand.

This will be tougher from a 5lb higher mark, but his profile is a positive one since dropping back to six furlongs and it will be no surprise if he proves equal to the task for the in-form Ed Bethell yard (75% of horses running to form).

16:00 Campaign Trail

CAMPAIGN TRAIL followed up his wide-margin maiden victory at Catterick with another ready success when returned to handicap company at Nottingham last month, only winning by half a length but looking value for extra having taken a while to hit top stride.

Progressing gradually and still totally unexposed as a stayer, he’ll be suited by the extra distance here and a 5lb rise in the weights is unlikely to be enough to stop him in his hat-trick bid.

 

16:35 Chelsea Green

CHELSEA GREEN ran right up to her best when last seen finishing third in a listed race at Vichy in July, doing well under the circumstances to be beaten just a length having met trouble early in the straight.

That was her first run over a mile and a quarter and the way she finished her race once finally seeing some daylight suggests she could have a productive autumn in middle-distance handicaps. A race like this should certainly be within her range from a BHA mark of 92.

17:10 Eton Blue

ETON BLUE and Simon Walker have teamed up to good effect in recent weeks to win amateur events at Goodwood and Brighton, just doing enough on the last occasion to get the verdict by a neck.

The horse is clearly in the form of his life at present and remains one to be interested in following a further 4lb rise, with the booking of Walker an ongoing recommendation in races of this nature.
