16:50 – Dame Sarra

Not many of these make much appeal. Timewave should run well back on AW, as should recent C&D scorer Toscan Genius but this may be best left to Tapeta winner DAME SARRA, who ran well in a race that wasn’t run to suit at Wolverhampton last time and this track should prove ideal.

17:25 – The Hun

Ripon runner-up THE HUN is taken to show progress and go one better. Lightning Leo is respected on the figures back down in class, while Curran has possibilities with improvement on the cards. As regards the two newcomers, heed the market signals.

18:00 – Balqaa

This can go to BALQAA, who is on the same mark as when touched off over C&D last week (holds a couple of these) and is taken to notch his second win over this C&D. There are several obvious dangers but it could pay to keep an eye on Stand Free, who was out of sorts when last seen but she’s gone to a shrewd yard and is on a good mark.

18:30 – Arizona Desert

The rematch between Havana Prince, Hooray For Hazel and Balmanzor looks fairly tight, as it could go any way over this longer distance on different terms (the first-named contender incurs a 6lb penalty). ARIZONA DESERT (narrowly preferred) and Korroor (second choice) are interesting handicap newcomers, while Likleman may improve back at 7f and Whatwouldiknow also has possibilities in an open contest.

19:00 – Nasneen

There are some interesting newcomers here, especially the Richard Fahey pair Alibi Warning and Leveret, plus Archie Watson’s Our Melody. Market support for any of them would be significant, but the last six runnings of this have gone to one with experience and can do so again courtesy of NASNEEN. A half-sister to a Tapeta winner, she shaped as though this extra furlong would suit when runner-up on her Catterick debut. Dianara would be a contender if stepping up from her promising Deauville debut, while Royal Elysian is also a player back over this trip.

19:30 – Love Your Work

Yoshimi is enjoying a good spell and looks booked for another good run, while Sun Power (second choice) also comes into the reckoning after a near miss here last time. LOVE YOUR WORK has slipped back to a handy mark and a well-run race at this trip could see him register a ninth career win. Vindobala will be a danger to all if consenting to race.

20:00 – Patontheback

It’s reasonable to expect another good run from Slippin Jimmy but the one in prime form is PATONTHEBACK (nap), who has been placed twice on turf since last month’s emphatic C&D win and is sure to be suited by today’s return to Tapeta. Class-dropper Ramiro also has possibilities.

20:30 – Absolute Dream

The big question with the four-timer seeking Spirit Of Bowland is how ready he will be after 140 days off. If he is ready to roll then he seems sure to go close, but preference is for dual course-winner ABSOLUTE DREAM who returned to winning form at Hamilton last time. A 2lb rise still leaves him well treated on previous form. C&D winners Mr Strutter, Masham Moor, Pop Favourite and Explorers Way are all capable of making their presence felt.
