14:15 Lady Pink Rose
LADY PINK ROSE raced too freely when last seen finishing down the field in a listed contest at Newbury, but she’ll hopefully settle better now tried in a hood for the first time. She’d looked a useful prospect when previously finishing seventh (beaten only five and a half lengths) in the Queen Mary Stakes at Royal Ascot.
A repeat of that form will give her every chance of resuming winning ways on these terms.
14:50 Alexi Boy
ALEXI BOY left his debut form well behind when easily winning a maiden at Lingfield last time, drawing right away in the final furlong to land the spoils by five lengths. That form is comfortably the best on offer in this line-up and his scope for more improvement identifies him as very much the one to beat in this novice event despite having to concede weight all round.
15:25 Venetian
VENETIAN has been struggling for form recently, but he could be worth a chance to get back on track in these calmer waters. He can line up from the same mark as when gaining his most recent success at Wolverhampton in November last year, while his style of racing could give him a tactical advantage in a race where he doesn’t appear to face any obvious competition for the lead.
16:00 Rock Melody
ROCK MELODY has been highly tried since registering back-to-back wins over this course and distance earlier in the season, but she remains on a workable mark judged on the pick of her form and this represents a significant drop in grade.
The return to five furlongs will also be in her favour and it looks a good opportunity for her to gain a third win of the campaign for the Jim Goldie stable.
16:35 Blue Antares
BLUE ANTARES ran another solid race when finding one too good at Ripon last time, keeping on well to pass the post just half a length behind the winner. She lines up here from just a 2lb higher mark and it’s rare that she runs a bad race having finished in the first three in all but one of her last six starts.
In a wide-open contest despite the small field, Blue Antares is preferred to a quartet of exposed, older rivals as she tries to double her career tally.

17:10 Its Good To Laugh
ITS GOOD TO LAUGH hasn’t won a race on the Flat since September 2021, but he’s threatening to come good soon having filled the runner-up spot on his last two starts at Chester. He was beaten just three quarters of a length on the last occasion, snatching second close home behind the eased-down winner. He is clearly on a good mark and it’s surely just a matter of time before he ends his long losing run.
17:45 Kalama Sunrise
KALAMA SUNRISE hasn’t offered much in her three starts to date, but it will be no surprise if she proves a totally different proposition on today’s handicap debut. She starts life in this sphere from a basement mark and this is a very weak contest in which most of her rivals have been struggling for form recently.
