This weekend is the last time we will see Frankie Dettori in a British Classic. He’s made a tough choice in picking Arrest and we will see if it’s the right one!

Doncaster 13:50 – Rosallion

Rosallion, bred by his owner Sheikh Mohammed Obaid, looked the real deal at Ascot when winning a listed race over 7f. The second has come out and won a listed race since and there is a lot to like about Rosallion. He is a big colt plus he looks like he will have no problem handling slow ground. He gets the nod.

Chester 14:05 – Sea Of Roses

Sea Of Roses‘ form is top notch. She finished second in a French Group 3 last April, plus got a good second last time at Hamilton behind Chesspiece, who runs in the St Leger later in the afternoon. There is not much between her and the favourite Bluestocking on their Ascot run.

Sea Of Roses is overpriced and I would be very keen to back her each-way if we had eight runners.

Doncaster 14:25 – Call Me Ginger

Roger Teal has a great record with sprinters and Chipstead is a six-time winner and was second in this last year. However, he is 11lbs higher than his mark then.

Makanah appears to be running into form and was in this same contest last year. He is 5lbs lower now too. He comes into this on the back of a good fourth at York and he has to be of interest.

But Call Me Ginger is a worthy favourite with Amie Waugh taking 5lbs off. He’s won his last two and has solid form.

Chester 14:40 – Arthurs Realm (each-way)

Ed Dunlop is having a very good season and he’s had plenty of winners. I am a big fan of the jockey Danny Muscott, plus the draw in stall one is what everyone wants. Arthurs Realm is proven on slow ground and is an attractive price.

Doncaster 15:00 – Spycatcher

It could be a good day for favourite backers as Spycatcher looks to be well in. He was a winner at Deauville on soft ground in a Group 3 and narrowly failed to win a Group 1 over 6 1/2f on very soft ground which is top-class form. A reproduction of anything like that will be good enough to bag the prize.

Doncaster 15:35 – Continuous

Aidan O’Brien has been pretty dominant this season and it looks like he can end the season on a high. Continuous finished behind King Of Steel at Royal Ascot and we know what a good run that was. King Of Steel has gone on to finish third in the King George and fourth in the Irish Champion Stakes. He holds the favourite Arrest on that run and he’s proven on a slow surface, when winning a Group 3 as a two-year-old in France. Ryan Moore is on board too which is always a bonus.

Arrest is the choice of Frankie Dettori on the back of a good win in the Geoffrey Freer at Newbury on slow ground. He was disappointing at Ascot and also when placed in the Epsom Derby. Gregory is the horse that Frankie dismissed. He was four lengths behind Continuous at York and Frankie feels the ground is the key. Middle Earth and Desert Hero can’t be dismissed and the latter would be a popular winner with the locals. I’ll take Continuous to win.
