She won’t be able to repeat the slow start that cost her dear in a better race here 12 days ago but RHYTHMIC ACCLAIM looks more than capable of winning races off this mark and she’s given another chance. Bungle Bay, Chamber Choir, Mostallim, Haulfronhobbs and Starjik (second choice) are feared most.
Unexposed LOOBY has her first try on Polytrack but still looks very much the way to go under a 6lb penalty for her convincing Brighton win. Nursery debutante Nouveaux is second choice, ahead of Scoops Ahoy.
Blown Away sets the standard and should be capable of better now upped in trip. The well-related Al Mootamarid can leave his debut effort behind but it may be Stormy Waves (second choice) that does best of those with racecourse experience. BARAQ is a newcomer of some note, however, and he may be worth chancing on debut.
Laurentia has yet to fire for Laura Mongan but as a dual winner of this event she can’t be ruled out, while in-form 3yos Doves Of Peace and Elusive Tiger (second choice) are both firmly in the picture. However, MY OPINION shaped well when a running-on fifth at Wolverhampton last time and can gain a deserved breakthrough success now.
Shabs finally put his head in front over same course and distance (C&D) three weeks ago and he should be bang there, while Golden Moon’s stable is in better form now and he still has time to do better. BO TAIFAN beat Shabs decisively at Lingfield in June and his appeal is heightened by the prospect of a well-run race.
Batal Dubai, who picked up so well to win at Newcastle in July, remains capable of better at this trip and he’s on the shortlist, with Clipsham La Habana and the progressive Justcallmepete also entering the reckoning. None appeals more than dual C&D winner OPEN MIND (NAP), though, with the topweight looking to retain all his ability this summer. Returning to these conditions could spark another step forward.
Assuming no further repeat of her relatively tardy starts of the past twice, it could prove worth siding with CORAL REEF on this overdue return to a 7f/Polytrack combination and with an ever more bankable mark. Sprezzatura, ahead of the selection on turf two starts back, is next most feared ahead of two in Monaadhil and Last Date with countless useful course efforts between them.
This trip could be a bit sharp for Lawmans Blis unless a good amount of use is made of him, and as such She’s A Mirage appeals most of the two last-time scorers. If anything can crawl out of the woodwork to surprise, however, it might be COLLEGE WIZARD, 0-6 and out of the weights but better than the bare form twice of late, going notably well in a C&D classified until the gaps disappeared.
