QUEEN’S MUSIC made a promising start to her career when filling the runner-up spot at Lingfield a couple of weeks ago, sticking to her task well to be beaten just a neck under a positive ride. That form puts her right in the mix in this novice event and it looks a good opportunity for her to get off the mark with further progress on the cards.

RESTRICT stepped up markedly on his return to action with a good second at Newbury last time, seeming suited by the strong gallop as he kept on well from rear to pass the post just a short head behind the winner. That was just his sixth run – and his first on turf – and this unexposed sort remains one to be positive about from just a 2 lb higher mark.

CARDANO was below form on his latest outing at Yarmouth, but he could be worth another chance to take advantage of his falling mark having had a breathing operation since then. It’s still early days with the Ben Brookhouse stable and he showed when hitting the frame on his previous start that he retains plenty of ability.

LETHAL TOUCH returned to his best with a smooth victory over this course and distance last month, only winning by a length and three-quarters but looking value for plenty extra having been eased well inside the final furlong. He is clearly very effective under these conditions and just a repeat of his latest effort might be good enough for him to follow up from a 5 lb higher mark.

ANTICIPATING took a step forward when finishing fourth on her handicap debut at Windsor last month, doing well under the circumstances to be beaten just a length and three-quarters having been caught further back than ideal in a steadily-run race. She certainly showed enough to suggest her opening mark is a workable one and a bit of extra pace ahead of her today will give her every chance of opening her account.

DION BAKER ran another solid race at Yarmouth a couple of weeks ago, finding one too good for the second start in a row. He was beaten just a head on the last occasion and the way he pulled clear of the remainder suggests he can still be competitive following a 3 lb rise in the weights, with his style of racing likely to be suited to this track, too.
17:45 Overnight Oats
OVERNIGHT OATS wasn’t ideally placed on his latest outing at Newbury and it’s probably worth putting a line through that run. He’d been running consistently well prior to that, improving with virtually every start, and a BHA mark of 75 still looks lenient judged on the balance of his form as he seeks a third win of the season.
