14:05 Adaay In Devon

A market check is advised with the newcomers, especially the well-bred Alibi Warning. High Violet and Nasneen are respected having both made promising debuts, but the despite the double penalty the vote goes to ADAAY IN DEVON for whom Oliver Searle’s 7lb claim will come in handy. She won twice with real authority on soft ground last month, so will be in her element if conditions remain testing and this race went to a previous winner last year.

14:40 Vitarli

A competitive nursery in which a few would have something to prove on a testing surface, though that’s not so much the case with Woodleigh and Knicks, both of whom have finished runner-up on soft ground. They are respected while Petra Celera and Neverstopdreaming are others to keep an eye on, but the vote goes to VITARLI. She showed good form on a soft surface in the spring and should be all the better for her recent return from a four-month break.

15:15 Manxman

It’s hard to get away from the progressive 3yo MANXMAN despite another 7lb rise. He acts on any ground and there is probably still more to come. Spantik could go well if allowed his own way in front again, though a bigger danger looks to be Aighear who remains below her last winning mark and won’t mind if the ground is testing.

15:50 Temper Trap

Jkr Cobbler comes into this on a roll, but he has more on his plate over a stiffer test from a 6lb higher mark. Do I Dream should appreciate the drop back in trip, while the consistent Hostelry should run her race again with ground not appearing to be an issue. However, should conditions remain testing that would be very much in favour of TEMPER TRAP, who has winning form over C&D and who was in cracking form on soft ground during the summer.

16:25 Hills Of Gold

The frustrating Mubhijah deserves to get her head in front at some point and now makes her debut for Ed Walker, but testing ground would probably not be ideal. True Nation should figure if stepping up again from her Catterick second while the market should indicate what is expected from David O’Meara’s French import Bustaam, but this can go to HILLS OF GOLD who didn’t stay 1m2f last time but whose narrow defeat here in May looks strong form in the context of this race. He has run well on soft ground.

17:00 William Dewhirst (nap)

B Associates has nothing to prove at this venue having won three times around here, but soft ground would pose a question. Naval Academy could go well if building on his promising stable debut here three weeks ago, while confidence in the market behind the returning Alexa’s Princess should be heeded. The choice, though, is WILLIAM DEWHIRST (nap) who would be in his element if the ground is testing and has been shaping as though this step up to 7f will be right up his street.
