13:30 – Captain Haddock

CAPTAIN HADDOCK may not be the easiest to predict, and is prone to running a shocker, as he did at Epsom two weeks ago, but he has now fallen to a career-low mark and finds himself in an easier grade of handicap. He may be worth chancing to quickly bounce back and end a losing run from a mark 11 lb lower than his last winning one. The in-form Let Her Loose is the obvious threat.

14:05 – Liberty Breeze

LIBERTY BREEZE is a regular round here and can boast a very good record at the track – she is a three-time course and distance winner – opening her account for the season here in June. She has largely held her form well since, running to a similar level when hitting the frame at Southwell a fortnight ago. She remains on a fair mark and she seems sure to be involved back here and is preferred to Mutanaaseq, who arrives in good order and is expected to give another good account.

14:40 – O G Beachwear

This isn’t a strong race and it looks a match between O G BEACHWEAR and Della with preference for the former. She wasted what looked like a good opportunity at Ffos Las last time, starting the 9/2-on favourite but having no answer for her main form rival in the closing stages. She drops back in trip now and is afforded one more chance. Della will make sure she doesn’t have it all her own way, though.

15:10 – Wade’s Magic

WADE’S MAGIC was well backed when resuming winning ways over this course and distance last month and he has confirmed himself still in top form on his last two starts. He had every chance of notching another success at Ripon last time, edging left inside the final furlong but unable to quicken with the winner close home. He is being kept busy but is holding his form well and seems sure to be in the mix again. One More Dream, who was a narrow winner over this course and distance under this rider two weeks ago, can pose the biggest threat.

15:40 – Haven Lady

Cases can be made for several of these and, at the likely prices, HAVEN LADY gets the nod. She failed to fire when returning to action recently but that run will have blown away the cobwebs (first start for four months) and her reduced mark and record at this track are positive factors to focus on. Prince Achille was in good form prior to a below-par run on the all-weather and should go well back on turf, while Propagation, though still a maiden on the Flat after 20 starts, also has claims but Jamih appears to have gone off the boil.

16:15 – Vadamiah

VADAMIAH has recorded all three of her career wins over this course and distance and though her form figures so far this season aren’t too inspiring, she has shaped quite well in two of her three starts. She left the impression she needed the run on her return at Musselburgh, faring best of those who raced close to the pace, and she ran at well as could be expected in a much stronger race than this at York last time. This will be her second start since undergoing a breathing operation and a big run is expected back at this venue now just 2 lb higher than for her last win. Birkenhead is next on the list, though a back-to-form Havagomecca would be a live danger.

16:50 – Vince Le Prince

Though VINCE LE PRINCE has yet to add to his two-year-old debut success, he wasn’t beaten far in a higher-grade handicap at Haydock last time and could be worth siding with off a 3 lb lower mark here with cheekpieces enlisted. Highfield Viking was ahead of the selection in that Haydock race and should be in the mix, while Cuban Rock could also play a part if able to shake-off his poor effort at Musselburgh a fortnight ago.
