14:20 – Coloane

A trappy low-grade handicap where none can be ruled out, but COLOANE has been holding her form well of late and the handicapper may have taken a chance by dropping her 2 lb for her latest effort at Newmarket. She wasn’t at all disgraced on that occasion in what was a stronger race than this, hitting the frame for a tenth consecutive time, and a similar performance will see her very competitive. In-form pair Free Step and Uncle Dick both bring solid credentials to the table and can chase home William Jarvis’ filly.

14:55 – Miguel

MIGUEL wasn’t an expensive purchase but he has shaped well in a couple of starts at Chepstow this season, able to lay up much closer to the pace last time, travelling fluently and staying on all the way to the line, beaten only a length. That form sets the standard in what doesn’t look a deep race and the booking of Tom Marquand has to be seen as a positive. Newcomers Medician Star and Gregorina both make some appeal on paper and it will be interesting to see how they shape up in the betting, while Happy Place’s debut effort at Epsom was not devoid of promise and she shouldn’t be far away.

15:30 – Line Of Fire

LINE OF FIRE produced his best effort yet when runner-up over course and distance last week, doing best of those who raced off the pace and arguably doing well to finish as close as he did. He didn’t have a problem with the drop back to this trip and he now goes in first-time blinkers, which should sharpen him up further, so he makes the most appeal racing from the same mark. Mist of Lir and Birkie Boy both look rather exposed but showed enough on their latest starts to suggest that they should have parts to play.

16:05 – Control

CONTROL remains a maiden after 17 starts but she came as close as she ever has to winning a race when beaten a head over a mile and a quarter at this course last week. She reacted well to a first-time visor on that occasion and did especially well considering she looked ill at ease on the track. Hopefully that experience won’t be lost on her and she will have no problem moving back up in trip, so is worth persevering with from the same mark with the blinkers back on. Storm Valley wasn’t seen to best effect when fifth at Windsor last time and rates the chief threat ahead of course and distance scorer No Diggity.

16:40 – Kodiman

KODIMAN hasn’t had things go his way many times of late, but with the hood discarded, he ran one of his best races to date when third at Chelmsford nine days ago, unlucky not to finish closer after meeting interference at a crucial stage. He also wasn’t helped by being shuffled back on the home turn that day so that run can be marked up, and he seems sure to launch another bold bid from an unchanged mark. Swing To The Stars also wasn’t seen to best effect when third at Epsom last time and can have a say too.

17:15 – Secret Handsheikh

SECRET HANDSHEIKH has fallen 1 lb below his last winning mark and shaped like the best horse at the weights when runner-up in a course and distance handicap last week. He was never able to fully open up, not getting a clear run from two furlongs out, and finishing with running left at the line. He has left the impression his turn is near in recent starts and remains a horse to be positive about. Imperiousity, who hit the target at Salisbury recently and has finished second on two of his three previous visits here, may prove the biggest danger.

17:45 – Turquoise Diamond

Although TURQUOISE DIAMOND finished behind Moondial at Epsom last time, she shaped much better than the bare result, still showing signs of greenness and not well placed following a slow start. There should be plenty more to come form her and she is well up to winning races from this mark. Moondial is just 1 lb higher following her win at Epsom last time and can pose the biggest threat.
