Ziggy’s Condor created a good impression when making a successful start at Pontefract in July, pulling three lengths clear off just a modest pace, and there was also a lot to like about his effort when runner-up in a big-field sales race at York last time. Ziggy’s Condor was no match for a smart prospect in Dragon Leader but he proved best of the rest after travelling fluently and he remains open to further improvement.
Real Gain did well to overcome the worst of the draw in an interesting mile maiden at Kempton on his debut last November and the form of that race has worked out well with the second, third and fourth going on to win next time. Real Gain also won when next seen at Chelmsford in July, showing useful form to land a mile-and-a-quarter novice in a good time. The second home on that occasion has also won since and Real Gain goes handicapping with some strong form to his name and the potential to raise his game further.
Yorkindness registered back-to-back wins at Pontefract last month, proving better than ever to score on the second occasion. She had no excuses when only third under a penalty at Musselburgh last time, but she ran right up to her best and ought to give another good account here as she should be able to dictate the tempo.
Tropical Island made a promising start to her career when winning on debut at Ripon in July, and she put a disappointing display at Goodwood behind her when only narrowly denied back at Ripon last time. An opening mark of 83 could underestimate Tropical Island based on what she showed when beaten only a short head last time and she can make a successful nursery debut with William Buick taking over in the saddle.
Emaraaty Ana won the Sprint Cup in 2021 and found only one too strong in that Group 1 contest 12 months ago, while he was also placed in the Nunthorpe and Breeders’ Cup Turf Sprint last season. Emaraaty Ana disappointed on his first couple of starts this term but he produced a much more encouraging display when runner-up to Lezoo in a listed contest at Newmarket a couple of weeks ago and he holds leading claims on the back of that effort.
Mathematician left his previous efforts behind when getting off the mark at Newcastle last month, seemingly appreciating the switch to more positive tactics (the hood was also left off). The form of that contest has worked out well with the third and fourth both winning next time so he still looks fairly treated following a 3 lb rise in the weights and, given his unexposed profile, he should still have more to offer.
Squealer won twice last season, including once at this venue, but he took some time to hit his stride earlier this year. However, he looked better than ever when scoring at Doncaster last month, quickening to lead on the approach to the final furlong and quickly assuming control. That was an emphatic success and even a 7 lb rise in the weights might not be enough to prevent a bold bid if he’s in the same sort of form.
