13:10 – Gherkin
GHERKIN hasn’t won for over a year, but as a result he is now 6 lb lower than that winning mark, and he arrives in good form having finished placed on his last two starts at this course. He had a wide draw when third over course and distance last time, not best positioned as a result, and he is more than capable of winning from this mark from a better berth now. Fair And Square finally got off the mark in a course and distance maiden last week and will be very competitive under his penalty if showing up in the same form.
13:40 – North View
This doesn’t look the deepest race of its type and NORTH VIEW should take all of the beating. He sets a healthy standard on form, finishing third to some useful rivals on debut at Ascot and, though he failed to meet expectations at Newmarket last time, he appeared stretched by seven furlongs. The step back in trip is a big positive and is hard to oppose. Angel Shared and Acer may provide the chief threat.
14:15 – Pepsi Cat
PEPSI CAT had shaped well two starts back and was the subject of a gamble when resuming winning ways over course and distance a fortnight ago, seeming to relish the drop back to a bare five furlongs. She remains relatively unexposed at this trip and she should remain competitive from a 5 lb higher mark. The thriving Foreseeable Future is feared most ahead of Shesadabber and Symbol of Hope.
14:50 – Moulin Booj
MOULIN BOOJ produced a career-best effort when opening his account at Wolverhampton last month, going with plenty of enthusiasm and confirming himself an out-and-out sprinter. Heavy ground probably wasn’t ideal when he was beaten under a penalty on his next start and he was having his third run in a week when a bit below form over six furlongs last time. He has been freshened up since and remains a horse to be positive about, particularly back at the minimum trip. Confederation is feared most having made the frame here on his last two starts.

15:25 – Denis Anthony
DENIS ANTHONY brought solid form to the table and showed slight improvement when opening his account at Ffos Las in June and that form has worked out quite well. He has been turned over at short odds on his last two starts but he hasn’t done much wrong, both times suggesting he remains on a competitive mark. He steps up a furlong in trip now but shapes as though he may well improve for it and he has to be high on the shortlist again. Fellow three-year-old Dreams Adozen was running well in defeat before completing a simple task at Hamilton last time and looks next best.
16:00 – Divina Grace
There are a few in with chances but preference is for DIVINA GRACE, who failed to fire in first-time headgear at Newmarket recently but should be capable of making a splash returned to a more realistic grade. Warren Hill opened her account with aplomb at Nottingham last month so she may emerge as the main threat now up and running, while the William Haggas-trained Tamilla and Flash Bardot are also considered in an open handicap.
16:34 – Billaki Mou
BILLAKI MOU is just a modest maiden, but he has been running consistently well in defeat during the summer, and appears to have been found a good opportunity to deservedly open his account. Miss Sligo is another who has largely held her form well lately and went close here earlier this season, whilst Trussst In Me is a potential improver now stepping into handicaps.
17:09 – Asense
ASENSE was refitted with cheekpieces and ridden much more positively when opening her account in a 13 furlong minor event at Lingfield (turf) three weeks ago and she clearly appreciated a change of tactics. She doesn’t look badly treated now back in handicap company and she may have more to offer now up and running. Kindgirl wasn’t discredited when making the frame here 18 days ago and could be the main danger with cheekpieces applied.
