Only three runners but you can make a case for all of them, but preference is for MAGIC MEMORIES, who arguably run a career-best effort when hitting the frame on handicap debut at Windsor last month. There was little to split the principals in the closing stages but he held every chance and he is entitled to build on that effort now, so he is just preferred to Paternoster Square, who didn’t look comfortable on the camber here last time.

This looks a very ordinary maiden and it may be worth siding with SEA OF ANGELS, who was a 30,000 guineas purchase at the breeze-ups earlier this year, and showed plenty to work on amidst inexperience on debut at Lingfield last month. She raced freely in the early stages and made some late headway, leaving the impression she will improve for the run both fitness and experience wise and it won’t take much improvement for her to be seriously involved. Lieutenant Rascal sets the standard on form but he is starting to look exposed.
15:00 Notre Maison
NOTRE MAISON has shown an upturn in form since being fitted with cheekpieces, winning back-to-back classified events in June, including one over course and distance, and he has been beaten far on his last two starts. He only narrowly failed to reel in the all-the-way winner back over this course and distance last time, proving himself on a fair mark back in a handicap, and he seems sure to be in the mix again. Thank The Lord could bounce back with Hollie Doyle in the saddle and is feared most, with Arzaak completing the shortlist.
15:35 Art Fantastique
ART FANTASTIQUE had seemingly been brought along with handicaps in mind and he attracted support when opening his account at the first attempt in this sphere, a first-time tongue and a gelding operation seemingly the catalysts. He made good headway before being switched for a run in the final furlong and stayed on well to lead close home. He’s started out in handicaps from a very low base in relation to his pedigree, so is strongly fancied to follow up from a 6 lb higher mark. Zachary is another who improved for the switch to nurseries when third at this course and is a clear next best.

16:10 Holbache
HOLBACHE very much caught the eye when sent off at 50/1 for his return at York and, while his effort in a big-field handicap at Ripon last time has to go down as disappointing, he is well worth another chance to bounce back to form. This smaller field ought to suit him and the handicapper has dropped him another 2 lb in the weights, so he is beginning to look too well handicapped to ignore. Kit Gabriel should step up on his reappearance and is a threat, along with Ormolulu.
16:45 Hitched
HITCHED has gained both his career wins over a mile and, having shaped well until his stamina ebbed away over a mile and a quarter at Ffos Las last time, he’s fancied to get right back on track from what should prove a workable mark. Buy The Dip has a lower turf mark to exploit and seems sure to give it a bold showing, with Rivas Rob Roy always worth a second look over this course and distance.
17:20 Silver Bubble
SILVER BUBBLE won no less than four times at this course last year and she took a step back in the right direction fitted with a visor at Kempton last time, travelling well and short of room once headed in the final furlong. She has to be of interest on the back of that effort now returned to this venue, especially as she is now 4 lb below her last winning mark. Eton Blue took his form to another level when an easy winner at Goodwood so is the obvious threat under a penalty, with Breguet Boy best of the others.
