Seemingly aided by a tongue-tie on his two hurdling starts for Nigel Twiston-Davies, JET OF MAGIC was unlucky to come to grief last time and is taken to make a winning chase debut. Polish has posted three good efforts over hurdles this season but is not an obvious candidate for fences and a bigger threat to the selection may come from Any News, who has become rather frustrating but has plenty of chasing experience.

14:45 Cresswell Queen (NAP)

The mare CRESSWELL QUEEN (NAP) crept into contention at Stratford last time only to be found out by the marathon trip and this lesser test is in her favour. Justshortofabubble has found his form and should feature again, along with If I Say and the chasing debutante Saxon Queen. Findusatgorcombe is worth checking in the betting on his first run for Robert Walford, while Tom O’Roughley could also be dangerous after a break.

15:20 Drumlee Spud

Newmill Getaway ran a nice race at Uttoxeter and could take some beating, but DRUMLEE SPUD edges preference. Ben Pauling’s new recruit was bought for £45,000 after showing a good attitude to win her only Irish point.

15:55 Sforza Castle

There’s no depth to this and with form under rules at this trip, SFORZA CASTLE is narrowly preferred to Olivers Travels. Ismael may yet do better but there are reservations for now.

Rubys Reward looked a shade unlucky when second to Dynamic Kate over same course and distance at the start of August and she didn’t have the race run to suit at Newton Abbot last time either. She can be dangerous from off the pace but the suggestion is lightly raced five year old ONEWAY EXPRESS, who made a promising handicap debut when upped to 2m7f last month and probably still has potential.

17:05 Call Me Tara

Secret Trix is on a roll and cannot be opposed with any confidence but today’s drop back in trip is not an obvious move and slight preference is for CALL ME TARA. Fergal O’Brien’s mare was challenging when left a long way clear at the final flight at Uttoxeter in July and could still be well handicapped after just a 1lb rise.
