18:00 Weloof

Most of these come with risks attached but WELOOF is a six-time AW winner who has been placed in his last two starts and remains well treated on his old form. He gets the vote ahead of Prince Ali, who went close off a reduced mark here last time and looks interesting on his drop back in trip. The other one on the shortlist is Always Fearless, who won under Ben Pollard at Salisbury on his penultimate run.

18:30 New Chelsea

Top of the list is Ralph Beckett’s well-bred colt NEW CHELSEA, who was always prominent at Newmarket three weeks ago and kept battling to finish a close fourth of 11. He sets a good standard on that promising debut effort and is open to progress on this step up in trip. The main danger is Godolphin’s Age Of Time, who ran green at Haydock last month and could take a major step forward on his second start.

19:00 Beenham

Ziggy’s Dream and BEENHAM are both back in calmer waters after some tough assignments but the former was well below form at Glorious Goodwood and the vote goes to Rod Millman’s filly, who was beaten less than 3l in a Listed race at Newbury two weeks ago. Rogue Rosie has finished runner-up in her last three starts and should go well again on her switch to AW, while Michael Bell’s well-bred newcomer Shuangxi needs checking in the market.

19:30 Alpine Girl

Most of these have something to prove but James Fanshawe’s 3yo ALPINE GIRL (nap) has been generally progressive in handicaps and was a close third in her bid for a double at Yarmouth two weeks ago. She’s only 1lb higher here and is a big player if she gets a decent tow into this race. Tallulah Myla is well handicaped if she can get back near her best and she’s feared most ahead of Cinque Verde, who looks interesting on her return to Tapeta.

20:00 Go Your Own Way

This looks tricky and the market should be informative. Kaaress had a tough assignment behind a major improver at Thirsk three weeks ago and could resume her progress at this new trip. Charlie Johnston’s well-bred colt Night Safari still has untapped potential but the tentative vote goes to GO YOUR OWN WAY. He takes a big step back up in trip after his runner-up effort last time but there is stamina in his pedigree and he’s big player if he can build on that last run.

20:30 Lexington Knight

This looks a bit trappy but it might be worth siding with dual C&D winner LEXINGTON KNIGHT, who finished well to snatch second over 1m2f at Doncaster last time and looks interesting on this step back up in trip. The versatile 6yo Further Measure is feared most, although 3yo Krona is 2-3 on AW and it wouldn’t be a surprise if she rediscovered her spark back in this sphere. Others to keep an eye on are the returning pair Morlaix and Night Bear.

21:00 Tea Garden

Cheese The One and My Opinion finished first and second in a C&D handicap 16 days ago and are key players if they can repeat that form. Galileo Glass has been placed numerous times this year and he’s respected back on AW, while the handicap newcomer Boujee Gold needs checking in the market. However, the vote goes to the generally reliable TEA GARDEN, who was a brave winner here on her penultimate run and didn’t get much luck at Catterick last time.
