Sam Feilden has plenty of experience for 5lb in this company and TELE RED, who’s looked better than ever this year, is preferred to Magical Mile, a dual 1m2f winner last summer for Benoit De La Sayette. King Triton (lightly raced) and Master Of Combat are two more with claims in a competitive handicap.
There was plenty to like about the way DUE FOR LUCK had some ordinary rivals strung out on his debut two months ago and he can successfully concede 3lb to Saint Matthew. Support for newcomer South Shore, from a yard to note at this track, would be interesting.
The consistent Chumbaa makes the shortlist despite this being her 13th start, while Be Here Now, who improved on his nursery debut last time, and the unexposed Vitarli, are also worth a second look. The vote, though, goes to REFLEXION FAITE, who has improved with each outing and whose last two efforts have since received a form boost.
Abate has won three from the front this season and may be able to grab the rail from stall 8, with Impeller, who was dropped in here last time, drawn wider out. Seven-time course winner Mark’s Choice should do better in this bid to follow up last year’s win, but ORIGINTRAIL (nap) has slid to a handy mark, having missed the best part of a year, and looks the one to be on after coming back to form here three weeks ago.
Tobetso took another forward step for his new yard last time and goes on the shortlist, along with the well-handicapped pair Touchwood and Motarajel. This could well be set up for something from off the pace, though, with the likes of Vondelpark and Saisons D’Or in the line-up, and COSMIC RAJ, a three-time late-summer course winner, gets the nod.
There’s little to choose between Michael’s Pledge and Spantik on recent Redcar running (when A Day To Dream and Yasmin From York finished well held) and both are likely to be suited by today’s longer trip. They should go well again, as should the consistent Marbuzet, but it could be worth chancing the stamina of MASS CONSUMPTION, who’s been strong in the market ahead of two recent runs for his new yard.
