Irish challenger FIVER FRIDAY holds the clear edge on form and arrives in good nick too so this looks an excellent opportunity for Paul Traynor’s filly to get off the mark. The remaining quartet all have a question mark against them but David O’Meara’s Purnika could emerge as the chief threat if the fitting of a visor has a positive effect.
Most of these arrive with a question mark against them so it could pay to side with LOUBIERE, who can race off the same mark as when posting a good third on her nursery debut at Beverley last time, and should find this slightly longer trip to her benefit too. Bellestarr (second choice) is weighted to go well if shrugging off a lesser effort at Beverley and nursery debutant Likleman could also have a say if a gelding operation sparks improvement.
Last year’s winner Canaria Prince has yet to score in 2023 but must enter calculations off a reduced mark here, while in-form pair Sixcor and Mrs Bagerran can also have a say. However, ACONCAGUA MOUNTAIN (NAP) looks primed for a bold showing on the back of his good recent Beverley third and he gets the vote.
Irish challenger Asgard’s Captain gave the strong impression this return to further would suit when third over 7f at Wolverhampton last time so holds solid claims but David O’Meara’s improving Time Test filly METRIC is taken to come out on top under a 6lb penalty for her Leicester win. Future Times appeals as the pick of the rest for minor honours.
The fitting of cheekpieces and switch to aggressive tactics has done the trick with Cuban Rock, who pulled too hard and went off too quick last time. He’s likely to give it another good go back under Paul Mulrennan, but WRECK IT RYLEY is unexposed at beyond sprint trips and can confirm recent Ayr dominance over Rwenearlytheredad despite the 4lb worse terms.
There is a good chance there is more to come from Blue Antares so he is respected despite a 7lb rise for his recent convincing success at Ripon. He may not want the ground to dry out too much, though, so the vote goes to GRACES QUEST who is 2-4 over C&D and is back off her last winning mark. A Shining Moon looks best of the others.[
