Each and every day of the racing year we bring you a bumper NAPS table to give you the inside scoop on all the plays you’ll need that day.
Don’t know what a NAPs Table is? We’ll tell you! It’s an independently run competition involving the cream of the British and Irish racing press whose positions in the table are based on their profits to Level Stakes. And just like all sports competitions worldwide, those doing best are towards the top of the table.
So, we decided to put that golden guide to the test and use it to steer you towards what could be a savvy Lucky 15 (4 horses, 15 bets) today. The four you’ll see below are the selections of some of the top-performing tipsters in the Table. Let’s get to the picks…
The Haydock race in which Beveragino finished in front of Cheshire Dancer, MILLITERRIES and Surging Tide could prove the key formline. Michael Bell’s filly had the benefit of previous experience, as well as enjoying the run of the race, on that occasion and it would be no surprise to see the placings reversed today. Millieterries should improve plenty as she comes from a yard whose 2yos are rarely fully wound up for their debut starts. She can take a big step forward today. Last Addition and Cloudy Skye also shaped well on their debuts, while Zayina looks the most interesting newcomer.
Plenty of these seem to find winning hard these days. PYSANKA has fewer convictions than most and he was quite eyecatching when ridden to stay this longer trip at Lingfield last time, which didn’t appear to be a problem in the end. Liberated Lad, Hot Team and Miss Harmony are all respected, while last year’s winner Flower Of Thunder is dangerously treated with the headgear she’s sported of late now removed.
Not the strongest of contests. McTenett should improve from his Sligo debut while Smart Impression can confirm Dundalk running with Byzantine Empress. The selection is BERGAMASCO who trialled well here in May and should appreciate the drop in trip after a decent Roscommon debut in June.
A trappy event with much likely to depend on how hard they go in the early part of the race. THUNDER BALL wasn’t seen to best effect after an awkward start last time but he can bounce back to form with the step back up to 1m looking set to suit. Fellow 3yo Sudden Ambush is solid, while Escobar is probably in better order than his form figures would indicate and he can go well off his reduced mark.
