Whatwouldiknow showed improved form when runner-up to the reopposing Doubletalk at Beverley last Thursday and is fancied to turn the tables as the winner carries a penalty here while the selection has a handy 7 lb claimer on board for the first time. Whatwouldiknow pulled three and a quarter lengths clear of the third at Beverley, proving well suited by the step up in trip, and he looks to be on a competitive mark.
High Point made a promising start to his career when a close-up third at Epsom a few weeks ago, missing out by only a couple of necks. High Point is entitled to improve with that experience under his belt, represents an in form trainer in Eve Johnson Houghton and the form of the Epsom effort was given a boost on Saturday when the runner-up scored at Ripon, so he could be worth siding with here.
Game Breaker stepped up on her novice efforts to make a successful handicap debut at Thirsk last month, justifying strong support in the process. Game Breaker is a well-bred filly being a half-sister to the useful listed winner Last Crusader and she remains with plenty of potential having started out in handicaps from a lenient mark. An 8 lb hike in the weights should not be enough to stop her from providing the in-form Ralph Beckett with another winner.
Matty Too has been in excellent order since the visor was applied and he registered back-to-back victories at Yarmouth and Chepstow in June. He had to settle for third at Brighton a couple of weeks ago but only just fell short in his hat-trick bid, keeping on well to miss out by only a nose and a neck. He can race off the same mark as at Brighton and should launch another bold bid.
Selenachorus shaped well when runner-up here on her handicap debut, leaving the impressing that she still had something to learn, and she then showed improved form to bolt up by 11 lengths back here last month, not needing to come off the bridle. The winning margin was only half a length when she followed up here a few weeks ago, but she left the impression that she had something in hand after overcoming trouble in running and a 5 lb rise in the weights may not be enough to stop her completing a course-and-distance hat-trick. Conditions were testing for her two wins and will be much quicker here, but she showed her effectiveness on a sound surface when runner-up on her handicap debut.
Star Start has been holding his form well and produced a bigger effort when running out a wide- margin winner at Doncaster on Saturday. That was a weak race but Star Start took advantage in style, drawing 14 lengths clear, and he stands out as the one to beat here off the same mark.
