13:50 – RELIEF RALLY

All of Relief Rally’s four runs to date have come over 5f but the step up to 6f may well bring out a little more improvement given how strong she hits the line over 5f. She looks versatile with regards to ground conditions and looks like one that will take all the beating. Cherry Blossom is the nearest one in the market to her. She started off in a Listed race on debut when sent off 7/4f but she’ll need to improve again from her Curragh win to turn Relief Rally over.

14:25 – MEDIA SHOOTER (each-way)

The last three winners of this contest were all drawn in single figures from stalls 7, 6, & 2, while three out of the last four favs have won, so fancied horses have a good record. But I’m going against them trends and side with Media Shooter who looks a big enough price to me. He won a Wolverhampton novice race 10 days ago, but it didn’t look the worst race for the track, and he showed a good attitude in doing so. He certainly improved plenty from his debut run and with that win under his belt there should be more to come.

15:00 – NORTHERN EXPRESS (each-way)

Northern Express is a three-time course winner and although none have come over the mile trip. He has won over this trip at Thirsk though and was a close third to Croupier over a mile when gambled on at the May meeting. He’s running off a career high mark of 103 here but he’s held his form really well this season. From a nice, low draw in stall six, I’d be surprised if he wasn’t in the frame.

15:35 – AL HUSN

I’d be against Ballydoyle’s Savethelastdance for starters, even though she’s near the top of the market. A track like York on quick ground is not going to play into her strengths, so I’ll be opposing her. Al Husn is the only other Group 1 winner in the field and although she’s to concede 9lbs to the four three-year-olds- in the race, she’s a very likeable filly. That Group 1 win came on soft ground last time but she has won twice on good ground in the past so she should handle THE conditions. The step up in trip will pose no problems to her back on better ground.

16:10 – ONE EVENING

One Evening has a few pounds to find with Modaara & Makinmedoit on ratings, but comes into this contest off the back of a good second in a Listed race at Pontefract in June, when nothing went to plan. This is only her third start of the season so she should be a fresh filly. Ryan Moore takes over from Rab Havlin in the saddle and though it’s a trappy race, she can run well.
