York 13:50 – Korker, Equilateral
1.5 points each-way
Korker has gone close a few times but needs to break better than last time when slow away but running on well into 2nd only narrowly beaten. Last win came here at York in May 2022 and appears to be in good form at the moment and looks a winner in waiting, on a good mark and likes it here, should be going close again.
Equilateral is now dropping down in grade from Group level where he has preformed well and was not beaten too far in his recent races. Big drop to handicap company here and drawn on the high side which should suit. Could have a bit more class than some of these and a lot of boxes ticked about his chances today.
York 14:25 – Ballymount Boy
3 points win
Ballymount Boy has the clear form in the book having been second in a Group 2 contest last time out. The form of that race was boosted when the winner won the Prix Morny last week. Looks clear at the ratings and is open to plenty of improvement. Should be well suited to this test.
York 16:10 – Robert Johnson
1.5 points each-way
Robert Johnson has gone up a further 4lbs to a mark of 83 but he remains relatively low in this handicap still. Connor Beasley is back on board and the partnership are four wins from four runs. Second with a very late rally in a strong staying handicap at Goodwood last time and his prep for that race wasn’t ideal as the horse box got lost on the way to the track. He was late into the parade ring and ran straight to post when arriving at the track. A course and distance winner two starts ago and difficult to see him not performing well again.
York 16:45 – Pillow Talk
1.5 points each-way
Pillow Talk’s only win was over course and distance as a two year old. She still is a very good sprinter who was also second over course and distance first time out this season and is now 2lbs lower. Hasn’t won as many races as she probably should have given her ability but has contested some deep races and looks a winner in waiting to me.
York 17:20 – Red Zone Hero
1.5 points each-way
Red Zone Hero has had three career runs, two narrow defeats then a two-length maiden Stakes winner last time out in a pretty impressive performance. His best form was on his second start, when he was a close runner-up, the winner has won twice since and is rated 96 now. The selection has an attractive opening handicap mark of 80. Good jockey in the saddle and he could be well in at the weights.
Carlisle 15:15 – Hougoumont
1.5 points each-way
Hougoumount has had four runs this year, and was a little unlucky two weeks ago, after a wind op and a two-month break, he came with a late run but was stuck behind runners for the last furlong or so. He ran two respectable races during May, against stronger rivals than what he faces today, and is effectively 7lb better off at the weights today with a good apprentice claiming 3lb. Should be bang there today.
Kempton 17:52 – Wadi Bani
1.5 points each-way
Wadi Bani keeps finding trouble in running but has a better draw here today in stall two and with the recent wind surgery operation this could bring about some improvement, his flat form at 7f on turf is decent and this race doesn’t look like it’ll take much winning.
