Having scored with plenty of authority over C&D last time on just his second chase start, ZORAN brings reasonable hopes of better still. Justshortofabubble has to be feared most given the sudden rediscovery of form on his last two outings and he travelled well on his way to a breakthrough win last time. Sinister Minister looks the third major player but has a lingering maiden status.

18:00 Brief Times

A strong field is assembled but the one runner with striking potential is BRIEF TIMES (nap) who was strong at the finish at Bangor last time and can complete his hat-trick. It is a hard choice for second between two more who have been in career-best form, with Go On Chez, who was runner-up when the selection won his penultimate start, preferred to Courtland who is upped in trip. Peregrine Run is now a 13yo but he won this race last year.

18:30 Ridge Hill

Captain’s Pick (second choice) and Tribal Glory are major players but The Eventmaster could be interesting if settling better in the first-time hood, and then there’s the newcomer RIDGE HILL to consider. His Flat yard wins bumpers and this gelding is very well related.

19:00 Mix Of Clover

This looks pretty open. Hiconic and Coolnaugh Haze (second choice) were first and second when they met in a C&D handicap on good ground two runs back and could easily be leading contenders again despite lesser shows last time. However, MIX OF CLOVER, who was close up at 40-1 when fourth in that aforementioned C&D clash, also needs a close look. He too has underperformed since but that was on soft going and he’s had the good ground he needs only the once since his return from a long absence. He’s falling in the weights. No Recollection, with his two wins from two starts at Worcester, completes the shortlist.

19:30 Sforza Castle

The three leading contenders on hurdles form may be the ones to concentrate on, even though they do not set a high standard. SFORZA CASTLE looked ready for this step up in trip last time, so he gets the vote ahead of the more exposed pair Seinesational and Shandancer. An unexposed runner to keep an eye on is Red River Valley who returns from a long absence.

20:00 Broomfields Cave

The headgear has to be worth a go on BROOMFIELDS CAVE judged on his latest start when he looked pretty hard work before renewing his effort in the closing stages, only to fall at the final flight. Hungry Hill (second choice) won that Uttoxeter race but would have been hard pressed by the selection had he stood up. It’s not hard to make a form case for D’Jango, while Kapitaliste with his four seconds from five attempts at this track is also respected.
