14:05 Zachary
Having shown bright speed for a long way on debut at Musselburgh, ZACHARY has failed to build on that effort in two subsequent outings, but he did have some excuses at Catterick last time, meeting trouble in running and, now handicapping on the back of being gelded, it would come as no surprise to see him make more of an impact from a lowly mark. Justahunch and Vidi Vici, both fitted with first-time blinkers, are others to consider in a trappy opener.
14:40 Cobalt Blue
There is little between the principals on form, but COBALT BLUE looks the way to go on the back of her good course and distance second in a handicap last time, and just about sets the standard now back in maiden company. Sir Michael Stoute’s Fly Zone is less exposed and rates the chief threat to Roger Varian’s fairly useful gelding, with Paternoster Square expected to be in the picture, too.
15:15 Global Style
GLOBAL STYLE arrives in fine form, getting off the mark for the season two starts back, and progressing further in defeat quickly turned out one day later, so this recent course winner edges the vote now back in handicap company. It’s How We Roll and Miss Sligo both bring very solid credentials to the table, however, so should ensure Tony Carroll’s gelding doesn’t have things all his own way in a tightly-knit handicap.
15:50 Cryptos Dream
CRYPTOS DREAM was gambled on and made a promising start for Jack Jones when a running-on fourth at Windsor eight days ago, shaping better than the bare result having been forced wide when making her challenge, and she is taken to get her breakthrough success here with this longer trip looking a big plus.
Bbob Alula is well weighted and has winning course form to his name so could emerge as the chief threat, ahead of in-form maiden Young Winston.
16:25 Heers Sadie
HEERS SADIE is building up a good record at Brighton, winning back-to-back handicaps over seven furlongs in the last couple of months and running creditably in her hat-trick bid over the same course and distance 12 days ago. That wasn’t a bad race for the grade and the third has boosted the form since, so she remains of interest moving back up in trip.
Free Step ran too badly to be true last time and should bounce back, while Uncle Dick can also come on for his recent reappearance.
16:55 Media Guest
George Margarson and Mikkel Mortensen have combined to good effect recently and MEDIA GUEST looks the one to be with having confirmed he’s back in excellent order from his reduced mark at Leicester last time. He was unable to hold off one more patiently ridden having helped ensure a sound gallop and should go very close from the same handicap mark. Optiva Star and Batchelor Bay are a couple of potential threats.
