Each and every day of the racing year we bring you a bumper NAPs table to give you the inside scoop on all the plays you’ll need that day.
Don’t know what a NAPs Table is? We’ll tell you! It’s an independently run competition involving the cream of the British and Irish racing press whose positions in the table are based on their profits to Level Stakes. And just like all sports competitions worldwide, those doing best are towards the top of the table.
So, we decided to put that golden guide to the test and use it to steer you towards what could be a savvy Lucky 15 (4 horses, 15 bets) today. The four you’ll see below are the selections of some of the top-performing tipsters in the Table. Let’s get to the picks…
Plenty with chances and both second choice Daarree (unlucky last time) and Rose Bolt (lightly raced for top yard) are sure to be popular. However, APOLLO’S ANGEL was noticeably short in the betting for her handicap debut, and not a lot went right at Ffos Las before stamina looked an issue over 1m2f. Lady Of Arabia also makes the shortlist.
The vote goes to CARLTON AND CO who justified support with her convincing win at Newcastle 11 days ago and remains well treated on her best form. Second choice is Iain Jardine’s reliable 4yo Giselles Izzy, who went close at Carlisle last time and should be fine on this step back up in trip. The handicap newcomers Cloud Cover and Evenstar need a close look, while the other one on the shortlist is the ex-Irish filly Capuchinero.
Nothing really stands out here but RHUBARB has slipped to a workable mark and is taken to bounce back quickly from an excusable defeat on heavy ground six days ago. Richard Price’s mare usually runs over 5f but has been shaping as though well worth another crack at 6f. The Cola Kid has held his form well since winning in early July and is second choice. Cases can also be made for Bama Lama and Lion Ring.
Plenty arrive in good form but few are less exposed than BODYGROOVE, who is on an upward curve after breaking his duck at Wolverhampton last time and is taken to successfully defy a 4lb rise. The penalised Chelmsford scorer Arcadian Friend is feared most ahead of Bunker Bay and Sharp Distinction.
