Nothing really stands out here but RHUBARB has slipped to a workable mark and is taken to bounce back quickly from an excusable defeat on heavy ground six days ago. Richard Price’s mare usually runs over 5f but has been shaping as though well worth another crack at 6f. The Cola Kid has held his form well since winning in early July and is second choice. Cases can also be made for Bama Lama and Lion Ring.
16:55 – Dubai Hills
Mapmaker produced a good performance to win at Newbury last month and ought to make another bold bid here but preference is for DUBAI HILLS. Amy Murphy’s colt cut little ice in a French Group 3 when upped to 6f in June but he made a promising start to his career over 5f and could still have significant untapped potential over this trip. Not many of the others make strong appeal but market support will bring Tom Clover’s newcomer Montecristo Gold into the equation.
17:30 – Gladly Ever After
This looks much deeper than Division 1. After her stylish debut win GLADLY EVER AFTER was prominent for a long way in a Group 3 at Ascot. She can double her tally in this much easier race. Drama and Invincible Aura (preferred in that order) come here after promising debuts at Newbury and both look good enough to win soon.

16:05 – Pinpoint
Neither PINPOINT nor Monks Mead are cast-iron, having made successful handicap debuts over 5f and 7f respectively, but this easy 6f shouldn’t be a problem for the former if he copes with the quick return from his Wednesday win. Monks Mead took such a big step forward at Lingfield that he has to be of interest but there might be more of a question mark about him at 6f with rain about. Bella Camina represents a powerful northern yard and is worth checking in the market on her handicap debut..
18:30 – Dash Power
This looks weaker than the first division and some guesswork is needed about the handicap newcomers. DASH POWER looked to have ability on his second start and although he lost his chance early at Salisbury since he should be capable of better at this very modest level. Villas Bullet ended up being drawn on the low flank at Lingfield on her last two starts but she is worth a second look with this extra furlong in her favour. Another Gift and Birkie Boy are others who can figure.
19:00 – Cover Up
A few ifs and buts with the form horses but the drop to 5f looks sure to suit COVER UP. The distance beaten on soft ground at Lingfield recently is off-putting but he was quite badly hampered there and wasn’t persevered with in the closing stages. Mezon may well be sharper for her winning Leicester debut, where Flying Kiss wasn’t at her best in fifth, but it’s not certain that this easier test will suit as well. Make Clear has been off since May but also enters the argument on her promising AW debut.
19:30 – Twoforthegutter
Goblet Of Fire has won his last two races and might still be improving but an interesting alternative is William Buick’s mount TWOFORTHEGUTTER, who has been running quite well since cheekpieces were added last month and benefits from a drop in grade today. Portoro has been treated sternly by the handicapper for last month’s 9l win on soft ground but he has plenty of scope for further progress, while Angel Of Peace also makes appeal in a good race for the grade.
20:00 – Thewaytothestars
Topweight THEWAYTOTHESTARS (nap) stayed on well and ended up winning a shade cosily at Ffos Las on Tuesday. With her 5lb penalty partially offset by Callum Hutchinson’s useful 3lb claim here, she can complete a quick double. Reel Power came good with an emphatic win at Brighton last month and it will be interesting to see whether he can build on that success. Beach Kitty didn’t show a great deal in her qualifying races but might fare better on this handicap debut.
