13:50 – Navassa Island

NAVASSA ISLAND seemingly failed to stay when stepped up to seven furlongs at Leopardstown last time, so the drop back to six today will be in her favour. Runner-up in a Group 3 at Naas on her debut, she has comfortably the best form on offer in this maiden and it should be a straightforward opportunity for her to get off the mark at the fourth attempt.

14:20 – Gosford

GOSFORD took another step forward as he gained a first career victory at Gowran a couple of weeks ago, hitting the front over a furlong out and digging deep from there to hold on by the skin of his teeth. Still relatively unexposed, he is clearly going the right way and a 3 lb rise in the weights might not be enough to prevent him from following up.

14:50 – Ultra Fine

ULTRA FINE looked desperately in need of the experience when finishing down the field on his debut over this course and distance in June and he duly left that form behind after a gelding operation when suffering a narrow defeat at Killarney last time. He still looked far from the finished article there and his scope for more improvement identifies him as the one to beat in this maiden.

15:20 – Take Heart

TAKE HEART was well on top at the finish when last seen justifying very short odds at Dundalk in March, forging clear late on in the style of a useful prospect. His absence since suggests he possibly hasn’t been the easiest to train, but he remains a three-year-old with plenty of upside and an opening mark of 80 looks a workable starting point to life in handicaps.

15:50 – Kerkiyra

KERKIYRA is yet to fully fire in three starts so far this season, but she could be worth a chance to bounce back now tried in blinkers for the first time. She proved herself a useful filly when winning a couple of handicaps over this course and distance in 2022 and that form reads well in the context of this race if the headgear can spark a revival.

16:20 – Nostra Casa

NOSTRA CASA wasn’t seen to best effect when finishing fourth on his most recent outing at Ballinrobe, never threatening to get on terms having come from further back than the other principals. Still low mileage for a seven-year-old, he is better than that and remains one to be interested in from a 10 lb higher mark than when winning impressively at Sligo the time before.

16:50 – Helpmeout

HELPMEOUT returned to form with a good second at Naas a couple of weeks ago, only losing out in the final strides. The winner gave that form a boost when following up at Galway next time and that suggests Helpmeout could still be one step ahead of the handicapper if building on the promise of his latest run, lining up here from just a 1 lb higher mark.
